From Keyboard to CD....Best Method?

Newbie here.....bear with me!

I have a yamaha keyboard, once I have saved a recorded song on the keyboard, I plug in my Roland Edirol into the headphone outlet of the keyboard....download song.
From the roland, download into the desktop computer (basic computer) and burn a CD from there. PROBLEM IS, the CD sounds somewhat muddy.

Is there a better approach, different equipment, etc to get a better quality CD recording? Thanks for any and all help.

You would do much better by getting an audio interface for your computer, plugging the LINE OUTs from the keyboard into it, and use a DAW (Reaper, for example) to record the keyboard output.

The first problem I see with your setup Wenro is that your have Analog to Digital conversion taking place back and forth with devices not really designed to do it. Your Keyboard will store the recorded song digitally, but when you play it out of the headphone jack, it is going to send a analog signal. Once recorded on your digital recorder, it will be digital again. Those conversions back and forth are going to degrade the quality of the sound greatly.

If you could get some sort of cheap interface to have the keyboard play into, then use the interface connected through USB to your PC and a DAW to record that playback, you would probably get a crisper sound. There are many cheap interfaces you could find for around $100 that would suit you. Plus, once you have this setup, you could even start to multi-track piano, vocals, etc...
