hi all, im cash a former guitarist and singer,i retired from live play about 18 months ago but i have recently built a small recording studio i purchased a tascam dp-02cf to record vocals over a backing track trouble is i cant even import my songs from i tunes onto the damn thing i have heard i need to change the songs format etc but dont even know how to do that!!!!like i said im useless if anyone can please help me it would be greatly appreciated

Wow. I can't get past the near total absence of punctuation.

It can only import files in a wav format. You need to find a converter that converts from iTunes format (.mp4 ?) to .wav format then you can import it. I use Sound Forge, I'll let you search for a converter.

thanx for the reply are there any free converters out there u can recomend???
@danfanmen wow i cant believe what a pointless post that was if u have nothing constructive to say please dont hijack threads with pointless comments thanx

LOL. Apparently Dan is an english prof. Maybe his post didn't answer your question but it certainly wasn't pointless!

How would you prefer to have your thread hijacked then? :D

To be fair cash, no one's getting at you, it's just that when punctuation isn't used, it can be hard to know what a person means or where a sentence begins and ends and for those of us that are schooled in such ways, the lack of it is often a shock.

By the way, try Audacity to convert your stuff. It has it's moments.

Format Factory converts anything to anything and has an easy to navigate user interface.

yeah ive just downloaded that but once the song is converted i cant find where it has gone,it says output file cannot be accessed

Look in the settings/options/preferences and see where the default save folder is.

I just installed Format Factory so I can see what you're doing. As I suspected, this is another one of those freebies that provides a graphical interface for the open source FFmpeg package. I usually use the command line version, but the usage is rather arcane for non-geeks.

Here's what you want to do. Click the Option [sic] button. The Option window will open. You'll see an input box that says Output Folder with a Change button to the right of it. Click that and change the output folder to your desktop or something else that's easy to get to. Click OK on the file dialog, then click OK and Apply on the Option window. Your converted files will now be saved to your desktop or wherever you chose in the file dialog.
