Why does it have to be a DiMarzio? And what, exactly, is a 'Gibson SG-like' tone?
Definitely a personal preference thing. One of my Les Pauls came to me with SDs and after a couple years I just couldn't take 'em any more, especially at the bridge. I switched 'em out for Fralin PAFs and been lovin' that axe since.I have a pair of late-70s DiMarzio Super Distortion pickups in one of my Hagstrom Swede reissues...
...absolutely KILLER!
They are not too "stoner"......they just have a great R&R crunch sound...not too hot/over-the-top.

Bridge...?
You mean people actually use the bridge pickup?!

Agreed 100%! They'll push the front end of an amp nicely but they still retain tone and articulation. Good all-around rock pickup. Maybe a little hot for very laid-back applications.I have a pair of late-70s DiMarzio Super Distortion pickups in one of my Hagstrom Swede reissues...

The 'stoner' reference was referring to bands like Trouble who have a very cool nasally sound and almost always use SD's and marshalls. (and chorus pedals)
