Digital Audio Workstation, for some reason people have different views of what it means, it's very simply the workstation you use to create music. The computer, interface, software, etc as a whole is your DAW.

In most cases, the DAW software includes instruments, effects and processors, a mixer, and a way to edit waveforms and MIDI sequences. It's pretty much a complete studio in one program.
