I voted, but I think there is already another poll of the same question.

I think most people who read the Cubase forum probably use Cubase.

I voted for SONAR.:D

Exactly what those guys said.. but I use Pro Tools. I'm a Pro Dumbass.

The poll might show a little bias when posting this question in the cubase section.

Bottom line is, many of the DAW's can do all the things you will need it to do, it's just a matter of getting comfortable with using them.

I noticed that the cubase option stipulated 'any version'. What versions of their respective apps are the options referring to?

I use MOTU DP. They all do the same thing....record, edit, mix....some might have it easier to do one thing than the other....comes down to your preference.

Just wandering whats the most common DAW used by everyone?
I use a Tascam 2488neo, a portable integrated DAW and then export via usb port to a computer based DAW using Cubase SX3 and Wavelab for editing. Sometimes I'll track directly from a mixer into the computer based DAW using Cubase SX3 and mix by exporting to the mixer using a Lynx Two soundcard for conversion.

In the cubase form my guess is steinberg will be a heavy winner here, although their customers may not.

I use Cubase 4 AI about 20% of the time but LOGIC STUDIO 8 80%. I actually like Cubase as it's what I "cut my teeth" on back in the Cubase 1.06 days on my Mac, but Logic Studio is sooooo amazing and does it all!

Just upgraded from cubase studio 5 to cubase 5.

I also have m powered 8 for when I need it (not often).

Reaper cause Im po'....:(

I actually love it though. Might change down the line, but for all that I do...Reaper is good with me.

I've seen enough videos to know that Reaper is no slouch. Took it for a test run myself and don't care for how it's configured from the get go but looking at all the shit you can do with it, again it's no joke.

Yeh, my friend is a Cubase user and he said he tried it out and was decently impressed with it...but had just been using Cubase too long to make the switch haha. Like I said, it's good for me and what I do...until I win the musicians friend $100k sweepstakes and I can buy all the gear I want!! :D

Cubase.

Studio One Pro

If StudioOne had been out when I started recording, I would use it. I've actually thought about switching over the StudioOne Artist, but the lack of VST support and mastering section really made me not buy it. When I get the dough, I'm going for StudioOne Pro, though.

Been using Reaper the past couple days.... and *really* liking it. A friend of mine has Cubase, and I can find very little to fault that program for. I see it is one of the more popular DAWs based on the poll. This I imagine comes from it being a pretty nice program coupled with a more modest price tag. along with being very full-featured?

I picked Cubase, even though I have 'others'. You gotta remember that they're giving this shit away with everything. And more people give away Cubase; Yamaha, Tascam, Zoom, and others. The only people who gave away Ableton that I have is M-Audio. Granted, this is all 'Lite', or for the snooty 'cripple-ware', but Cubase crippled blows away Ableton crippled. Maybe a full $$$ version will change my mind, but I am happy with my crippled Cubase LE. If I were trying to release something that would rival Dark Side Of The Moon for sales and instrumental prowess, there's better than all your poll choices. But for screwing around getting song ideas 'on tape', Cubase LE is better than good enough.

Line 6 also bundles thier stuff with Abelton OEM software. Presonus used to bundle their stuff with cubase, but changed to studio one when that came about.

It only makes sense that Yamaha stuff is bundled with cubase since Yammy bought Steinberg some years ago (I think C4 had just came out when they did).
