Monitoring Headphones for Singers

Hey Guys,

any suggestions on a pair of nice monitoring headphones for singers and other vocalists. I'm looking at both price and quality

My preference for vocals is also closed back. I like the isolation so I don't get much bleed in the mic.
I use the Senn HD280's and find em diggable.

closed back vs open back...

closed back gives you isolation where the bleed from the music playing in them doesn't leak too much into your mic.
Also for drumming where the source (drums) are loud, you can hear the drums in the phones better.

Open back does not provide isolation so ya get more bleed. Some prefer open back for spot checking mixes.

Pros n cons to both man.

1st pick is closed back. The cans fit around your ears and "enclose" them.

I have ATH M40fs...I really like the flat sound and theres little to no bleed...brilliant value at around $60...though the build quality looks a bit dubious, the black vinyl peels from the padding eventually

I've had one pair for years, and the only complaint is that they're not too comfortable.

That leaves out the 240 MkII and K-66 then. The former is semi-open, and the latter is open.

Yeah, it's got large, color-coded dots to tell you which side is which (red=right, blue=left), and padding inside each headphone to smooth the midrange response somewhat. You can stuff the standard headphones yourself, using wadded up kleenex or cotton batting, but be careful working around the delicate wires inside. Plus, you can buy four Deluxe and the fifth one's free.
