Getting ISRC codes and using real mastering software would be a start. I don't know that you can guarantee that they will show up on every system.

It needs to be registered with the proper databases -- Gracenote - CDDB, FreeDB, etc.

It can be a local thing with one machine - But just that machine.

And for the record (no pun intended), iTunes will NOT author a compliant disc in the first place. The 'proper' PQ editor / authoring software suggestion is a valid one. Still, the finished disc needs to be registered with the proper databases (and anywhere between a few days to several weeks must pass) before that information is going to pop up on a computer's player.

Is that a proprietary thing? I ask because I use Wavelab 6.0 without registering and the artist and song names show up.

There are a few programs that will read CD-TEXT info. Not too many though...

I just noticed on facebook the artist shows unknown:mad: Looks like I'll have to start registering, Thanks John.

Need a bit more info...

When you burned the CD did you burn an actual CD or a collection of MP3's. If it's an actual cd then, if you put it in a PC and bring up something like Windows explorer, all you'll see are "Track 1", Track 2" etc... and they'll show as .cda files.

If you burnt them as a collection of MP3's then you need to get an MP3 metadata editor (lot's of free one's available on the web). With that, you can edit all the additional MP3 data. Cubase wont insert anything like that into the exported track.

If you're trying to put it in a PC and play it via media player or something like that and hoping that media player will go out on the web and collect info about the CD (Artist name, Album etc...) then the CD needs to be registered with one of the online databases (Gracenote is widely used) AND the CD has to have an ISRC code embedded on it that will allow the online site to KNOW what CD it is.

You can buy batches of ISRC codes that you can use for the albums you release. Not terribly expensive really. Go here for more info...
