It might as well be based on Ebonics lol. I can't think of any rap song that uses proper English or the proper form of any other language. Which makes it the equivalent of Ebonics in my opinion :laughings:

Keep in mind I'm not saying this stuff to be offensive. I'm not judging these people or looking down on them. You can't judge some one's character based on his level of education of life experience. When it comes to something like music I already have a pretty good idea of what I'm going to be hearing...

I know you're just going by what you know, but what I'm saying is that you don't know. Of course you can't think of a rap song that uses anything other than ebonics because that's all that the mass media has shown you. I'm not offended, I just think it's a shame. I'm trying to tell you guys that hip-hop has the same potential as any other music, and that there are hip-hop artists who are trying to fulfill that potential, but much like Greg, you're set in your ways and there is no point I could make to change your minds. So, lets agree to disagree.

This is just another classic case of someone getting offended by me for no good reason whatsoever, and then lashing out like they're gonna be the one to change me. :laughings: :laughings:

Come now, I'm having as much fun as you are.

those hip hop guys are like that. big feelin and thenthative. they'll find a dis in a simple hello sometimes.

Hence why none of em come to the cave to hang.

Not serious and self intrested enough.

the cave is full of stupid shits, maybe the rap guys figured that one out ages ago :)

... has the same potential as any other music, ....

Had you mean.

Rap and hip hop have been around since the 70's bro.

It had the potential and failed to deliver. And again like i said Public Enemy's Fear of A Black Planet has yet to be topped. None of this new stuff is really hitting that mark.

Punk has been around the same length of time and is still all over the radio with bands like Blink 182 Green Day Paramore and Good Charlotte. And im not talking College radio i'm talking your parents car kinda radio. Although i hate to call that tripe punk, it is still punk. Loud Guitars, catchy choruses and fast drums...

Rap guys can't figure out real drum kits, how they gonna find their way to the bottom of an internet website.... ?

I've heard plenty of wanna be classy poetic hip hop and it always came off as very homosexual and a weak attempt at intelligence. I've heard some rap that address real issues in a realistic manner, but when you break it down it's still very simple and unmusical. They put a huge emphasis on the beat. It gotta have BEAT, it got no beat. Fuck a beat. Might as well listen to some freakin aborigines banging on home made drums or some black kid on the corner banging on trash can lids.

It's not very musical at all. In my opinion not very creative either. It's simple music for simple minded people.

A black dude is president. Rap, BET, the NAACP, and Oprah can all go away forever now.

I do have a lot of friends who listen to rap and hip hop. I know even more people in real life who listen to it as well. They all have some things in common.

1. Maybe not so smart.
2. Live in a small world.
3. Very ignorant.

Even the smart ones are ignorant as hell.

No, because I don't feel the need to prove jack on the Internet :D

everythings been around since year dot

fear of a black planet was an excellent album, but some of the wu tang stuff is also excellent, CREAM is one of the best hip hop tracks ever produced...I cant really comment on some of the more modern stuff as I dont listen to it...but saying it has no more potential is saying the same for every type of music

just because "punk" is the flavour de joure means fuck all...the bands you mentioned are all ready has beens...ffs my wife likes green day, abba and green day, theres your "punk" audience lol

music is music, saying one genre has more potential is as stupid as saying synths arent real instruments...yet plugging electric guitars into soft amps is...music is music...period, doesnt matter how its made or who makes it
