whats up? I'm new to this forum and i hope you will be helpful in solving my problems, and i hope i will be able to help others... with my lame intro out of the way, i was hoping someone would be able to help me figure something out for my home studio/recording setup...
i have attached a graphical layout to help you understand. i'm planning on making a recording booth out of a closet downstairs, and since it's far away from my computer, i need a way to communicate with the artist. i have 2 mics, and i want to use the extra to talk to the artist, which should be able to be heard in his headphones. in my headphones, i want to hear myself, the booth mic, and the music/instrumental. i want the headphones downstairs in the booth to be able to hear me, the artist, and the music... basically the same in both headphones haha. like i said, the booth is far away and i would like to have ONLY ONE cable running from the mic downstairs to my audio interface next to my computer. so my ultimate question is: how can this be done? im pretty sure that i would have to use more than one cable, but i want some sort of "box" downstairs so the artist can adjust his phone/mic levels. i want to know what this "box" would be called (similar to a computer audio interface, except the fact that it doesn't need to be connected to a computer).
what is the best and most affordable way i can accomplish this?
thanks for your time!
by the way, my music is on myspace, if you are interested... myspace.com/1800nicabus
