I learned a very important law of the music universe and it goes : The more notes one plays in a performance, the less vagina one gets.
Not according to the widdling lead guitarists and jazz autobiographies I've read ! :D

Don't need to watch it live. I've set the timer on the DVD.

Nah, I am convinced MS was taking the piss, especially when you consider that last vid posted. It's fucking hilarious :laughings:

Actually that audience was rude, Cage would not have been pleased.

OK, you don't like those. This was written in 1974 (I think) but this performance was recorded in 2009. Why does this have 114 views but loserboy has 4M?

Amen, brother.*

If the musician is good, the music is good. What kind of music it is, or "how many notes" it contains is irrelevant.

Not everybody is going to like everything. If someone's serotonin level or pulse rate is boosted by dissonant notes played in a 35/7, and if the artist is really good and composing or playing a type of music that revolves around dissonance at 35/7, more power to them. Their brother may think that only I-IV-V s played in twelve bars at 120BPM by 80-yr-old delta blues guys spitting blood into their spit bucket at the same time they are lowing their harp into a Pignose. More power to them too.

True lovers of music can appreciate both without having to necessarily have either one in their top rotation playlist as their cup of tea, but would not object to either one.

Even though we all know that blue is superior (;) j/k)

I am not concerned with colours rather the use of colours. Just as there is such a thing as bad art there is such a thing as bad music. The music linked to is not clever, catchy or emotionally moving ( unless possibly you are affected by some mind altering substance or have anchored pleasure to it from some obscure experience) it is purely the result of a good musician knowing music theory.

Rachmaninoff has lots of notes and it sounds good. He is in no where near the same league as what was posted. I recognise beauty when I see it. I don't pretend to see it when its not there.

That's a dangerous path you're following. Equating your personal artistic preferences with an objective good is the kind of thinking that leads to really bad things.

What kind of really bad things are you referring to ?

Have a listen to those postings and tell me what is "good" about them, please.

If you have a master forger who can knock off a perfect Rembrandt do you expect him or her to automatically be a master composer ?

A master forger who can knock off a perfect Rembrandt is a master composer. Skills are skills whether or not you are the first to use them.

Duplication is not the same as the creation of an original piece.

Beauty is in the ears of the beholder. You are not the arbiter of what is beautiful for anybody but yourself.

For sure Glen, just the same as a pedophile finds a child a beautiful and appealing so to can people make neuro associations with bad art and bad music and yet still consider it beautiful and appealing.

I guess I am grateful I have my wits about me - and no misfiring neurons. :D

Actually I find Rach tedious, and I don't think there is a serious musicologist anymore who would not rank Schoenberg's string trio #45 with or even perhaps above anything Rach did. After the 1910s, when Schoenberg had done Pierrot Lunaire, or in another direction, Stravinsky had done Le Sacre du Printemps, Rach was essentially laboring in a style of the past, even though he was quite good at it.

Rami, if you haven't already unsubscribed, then keep that kind of crap in the Cave.

Wow, what a sick puppy you really are. You have your wits about you the same way Ted Kazinski has his wits about him.

To associate music which is not insulting, assaultive or obscene by any public standards, but simply something you personally don't like, with sexual desire towards a minor is just plain sick.

Jon, you shouldn't be chastizing Rami; this CFox character has been poisoning the board since he first showed up a couple of weeks ago and is a wonderful argument for more moderation on this board than just the occasional spam busting.

Rami should be capable of controlling himself. CFox is in the Cave, cuss him out there. Also, I pulled a post by both of them, so they're even.

Again, I got called the pedo, not Rami. Chill, dudes.

100 % risk of a knee jerk emotional reaction from someone with deficient intelligence, but I thought it would be good for a lol. Thanks...again. :)

I did not link the two you stupid stupid moron. I drew a parallel how people can make neuro associations, thus destroying your argument that beauty is defined by the viewer.

The funny thing is, our views are in alignment on a few matters - I just dont rush in to +1 them like a sycophant.

Grow up old man. :p

He didn't just call you a pedophile, he called anybody who doesn't agree with his own word a pedophile.

I don't do the cave anymore than I do truck stop adult book stores. It's bad enough that the board puts up with Internet sociopaths and outright antagonists in the cave, but the casual attitude by the board towards them outside of the cave is something I'll never quite understand. They only cost money to Audiofanzine to give them free reign here and serves no one any benefit.
