hey its not Friday anymore...even my threads title is dated! :)

50 year ago would of made you a musical genius. They would of run you out of town, but you would of paved the way :laughings:

tis the devils music! no man can dance at 140bpm without his brain swelling through his eye sockets!!

Nicely done ! Not the style of music I'd listen to, but for an 80's type tune I think it's spot on.

All that's missing to my ears is a slightly grittier bass tone - something like the tone on Being Boiled maybe.
I can hear spaces where the two girls should be doing their slightly flat nasal bvox.
I didn't get into the era - I was rock & the wife was contemporary with H17 et al.
This is, however, almost an HL meets NOrder blend.
NOICE!

What if Ian Curtis didn't commit suicide and New Order never was???
That's what this made me ponder

I think it lacks a bit more of a hook, either in the vocals or the music...but pretty good as it is!

Hey, good job on this one dood.

Just having the guitar and vocal in there makes a big difference in terms of maintaining interest. I personally loathe the '80's pop sound, but I would argue that the production values on this recording are higher than what I remember from a lot of the pop music of the period.

I like the way you recorded/processed the vocals. The delivery is pretty monotone, but for the most part, I think it works on a song like this. Some more emotive content, particularly on the chorus, would be nice. Also, I thought your pitch was good. The only time it seemed you may've faltered a bit was when you ended phrases with the lower notes. On the lowest notes, it sounds like you trail off rather than finishing the phrase, if that makes any sense.

Lastly, some higher background vocals on the shorus would be great.

But overall, I think it sounds really good and I was happy to hear the guitar/vocals in conjunction with all of the electronic stuff.

Thanks mate...without the vocals you'd never think 80's, or I wouldnt, its funny as soon as I sing I date it immediately :)

I could hear I bit of female vocals in there as well, but beyond castrating myself thats my range there lol

I listened to the Jam through that part of the 80's...I like Joy Division but that was it...its listening back now that I like the synth stuff, plus I always had a couple of hidden 45's i would never let my mates see ;)

Thanks for listening Rich....I started of writing a dubstep track (the drums and bass) and its just ended up this as the melody started going in my head....Im not sure my level of expertise allows me to take it up another level but like most stuff I may revisit it in the future to see what I can do

Thanks Pete...the combinations what I ultimately want to record..its just Im having real difficulties recording vocals in my apartment...this was one take in the walk in closet sung as quickly as possible..you are absolutely spot on about the lower tone vocals..I actually faded out most of the tails at the end of lines as they wobbled so much..sounded like I was yodelling! :D

Thats OK though I can always re-record them at some point...

Theyre processed through Pod Farms pre-amps...I really like that software for vocals

but glad the mix it still pretty much there...Ive got more one take wobbly vocals coming up next week! :D

thanks guys :drunk:
