... and I'm either thinking about taking a hostage or taking my own life! OK, not really that bad but I don't know what is up. I have searched threads, searched other boards, soul searched and everything else I can think of. The clicks, pops and drop-outs are occurring on USB II (M-Audio Fast Trac) and firewire (Presonus Firepod). What's more, they are happening when there is just 2 drum tracks and no effects. This isn't a 16 channel mix! Happens w/both M-Audio Pro Tools AND Cakewalk Guitar Tracks 4. The Sycon DPC Latency Checker says "some device drivers on this machine behave bad and will probably cause drop-outs..." um... that's a big affirmative on that one!

Dell computer; core 2 duo (1.83 Ghz X 2); 3 Gb ram; Dynex card bus firewire adapter; USB II;

Question 1: ASIO 4all w/Firepod a good or bad idea?
Question 2: ASIO 4all w/Fast Trak? good/bad?

Ummm, help, please.

I used to have a Firepod and didn't have any trouble with it. I used the Presonus Firepod driver. And I used a SIIG firewire PCI card which had TI (Texas Instruments) chipset.

Is your Firewire card a 1394/USB combo card? I've heard that those can cause trouble.

Note dastrick's comments.

The driver that comes with a firepod is highly reliable. Use that and see what happens.

It might pay you to uninstall the firepod completely, then do a fresh install, following the instructions carefully (the drivers have to be installed before you hookup the firepod).
