2 mic's for violin and upright bass

ok! i have done some more research and i definitely think the Shure KSM141 is my best bet for the upright bass.

now the violin. i am currently torn between the tlm103, the beyer MC930 and the m-audio pulsar II. (either of the latter two could be in matched pairs)

any suggestions?

You can build a portable absorper; I have one that is 4' x 4' x 4", hinged in the middle. It's handy, but don't neglect placement as a method of avoiding bleed. Bleed isn't really the problem you think it is anyway.

As for mics, I'd want to end up with a pair of something, because the day will come when you want to make a proper stereo recording, and you need two of the same mic to do that.

any opinions on a shure KSM141 for double bass?

needs to be good as a solo recording - not as a big part of a mix or anything. also a decent sound for bowed bass.
