I'm building my home studio and i was looking forward to recording some vocals. I have found interesting these two different models, what is really the difference between them?.
thanks,

The "A" model is a Hyper-Cardioid which works better for live use.
The "C" model is a Cardioid and might be a better choice for your home studio, depending on how much isolation you have for recording.

I have owned the 87A twice, and it is a great mic. It was actually the first condenser mic I ever owned. I think the next time I get one, I will go with the "C" model.

I have the SM87A and it was OK in my old home studio, in a basement with block glass windows. Even with that, I had to turn the thermostat off to keep from picking up the noise of the blower.

I've switched to dynamic mics for my new apartment. The compresser mics are just too sensitive without some really good isolation.
