SPDIF, how to mix the signal?

I want to use the SPDIF output on my drum machine to the SPDIF input on my Alesis master control to free up other inputs. I have sound in the Alesis but I cant seem to get it routed through a cannel to do anything with it. Using cubase LE4. Is there something I missed when dealing with SPDIF?

Do you have Cubase set up to recognise the input from the Mastercontrol. I'm not in front of mine, but I think it is something like the 14th input and says SPDIF L.

Yes, but its not routing it to a channel so I cant adjust the levels or anything.

With digital inputs you can't adjust input levels as it is a direct digital bit-for-bit transfer. Once recorded onto an audio track though, you should be able to treat it as any other audio track.

Ok, but i cant even get it to show a level on a track to record, i have assigned the SPDIF inputs to that track?channel but no level.
