Ok, I've got cubase le 4 and a 2 Jack tascam autointerface. I'm recording with a mxl condenser micraphone (pretty expensive). I can't get a good recording with it. Everything is lacking gain and getting distorted easily. I'm using reverbe and a compresser. Any advice to make it sound better?

The most common reason for a condensor mike not giving a good signal is because phantom power is either not available or not switched on.

So:

Does your interface have phantom power?

Is it switched on?

Are you using an XLR to XLR cable from mike to interface?

Do they it put out anything with no phantom?
(I could check but I got my feet up.. ;)
