HI, I'm using a MXL V67g condenser mic, M-audio fast track pro and Cool edit pro as my program, I tried to record a song yesterday but then after I've recorded it I can only hear my voice on the left side of my headphones? even on the program the recording only show at the upper part of the tab. How do I balance it so I can hear my voice both on the left and right?

Thanks in advance...

Right-click on the audio block and select Mix Down to File (Mono).

In the future, before you record the signal, be sure to switch to mono recording (unless it's a stereo source). In multi-track view, in the track controls there's a source selection button that probably says "Rec 1". Click that button to see your input options. Select Left Channel or Right Channel, depending on which channel of your interface your mic is connected to. You'll record a mono track which will be centered in the stereo field. Then you can use the pan function to move it left or right as desired.

The most common question on a first recording attempt.
I'm not a Cool Edit Pro user so I can tell you what you need to do but someone else will have to get more specific for you.
When you arm your tracks (get them ready to record) you generally click on an icon on that track menu and select which input device you want to use for each track.
So, with the Fast Track Pro, you have two mic lines in.
Click on the icon. It will offer you the choices "Stereo...... L & R" or "Analog In.... 1 & 2. Something like that.
Choose Stereo L for line 1 & Stereo 2 for line 2.
Keep in mind that you are choosing your SOURCES, not your speakers.
It sounds like you have selected the device properly.
You just need to assign them to their own tracks now.

thanks guys, I have another question regarding the fast track pro properties? Sorry guys I'm really a noob, what do I do with those things where do I put a check mark?

Output 1 & 2 balanced and unbalanced
Output 3 & 4 S/PDIF and unbalanced
S/PDIF input
Balanced 1 mono
Balanced 2 mono

should I put a check mark on all 5 of them?

Thank you so much!

No, not unless you are using all of them.
I gave my Fast Track Pro to my cousin's kid so I'll be working from memory here.
Whatever software you are using though, should adopt M-Audio gear, without any prompting.
All you should have to worry about is arming the tracks.
If it makes it any easier for you, make the Fast Track Pro your default sound card for the PC as well as your DAW.
And don't forget to disable your System Sounds. They can cause problems.

In Cool Edit you have to move it to the active record and play devices lists. If you don't move it to the top of the record device list you have to select it from among the inputs before arming the track.
