The American Dream Trilogy

This one is one of the few I've done where I am the only person playing. The first part came to me in a dream, and a friend on HR mentioned that it sounded like the beginning of something bigger ... so then I wrote the next two parts.

Each movement was recorded separately on it's own, and then I assembled them together in a separate project where I then added parts that combined them into one piece.

Yes, I know it cuts off abruptly at the end ... as on the album, it moves right to the next song. Thanks for listening. :)

Another really great piece of work!

The only thing that concerned me was the slight woofiness on my monitors in my particular environment. A wide Q dip in the bands centered around 250 to 500 took care of it. No more that -2db in the range. Crisped it up, and got it sounding really good...like pro, man!

YMMV

K-dub,

Nice piece. I like how the synth rolls in and then fades. Has a David Bowie kind of feel. Nice work man.

Sounds great Kev.

The piano is played and captured with authority. Vocals at first seemed way too out front for me (and I'm becoming more of a fan of out-front vocals than I once was) but I understand that they are the focal point here, so perhaps the levels are appropriate.

The transitions are cool and pretty seemless. I don't think I've ever heard "cathode" in a lyric before...cool.

I think it is particularly difficult to pull off dramatic stuff like this as so much music is currently full of sarcasm and I-don't-really-give-a-shit attitude. While not my thing necessarily, I admire the apparent earnestness of this.

Really, really well put together. I like the 3rd section the best - by far.

Another beautiful piece, Kev!
You are one very talented guy. Great work, no nits from me!

Joey :):):):)

Wow.
You are one incredibly talented individual. This sounds real nice.

Man, I'm flat out as of late ... and buried w/ keeping biz I own floating, but I appreciate SO MUCH the kind words.

Warm thanks,

This is great. Love the piano. Nice, rich and full.

Good luck with the business, hope you get more time to put more stuff like this out.

Truth be told, I forget. From what I remember, it works pretty well. Most folks seem to be ok w/ it. I did the whole design myself, and learned then ... but then ... well, my attention went elsewhere. I'm not A.D.D. ... but my life sometimes lives it.

Where did it break down? I can probably figure out how to help ... and you can have comfort in the fact that I'll be much better than Microsoft support ... but that's not saying a lot.

btw ... it's ok to call me Kev ... it's what I go by ... as folks who know here know. :)

I'm in the twixt age, C. My family's parents are too old and my kids are too young ... and my job ... even though I built it myself ... is under recessional assault.

I'll survive, I truly believe ... but time for my passion is so crunched.

I had more energy and time when I was less burdened.

Still ... I'm driven. I'll find what time I can. Thanks for the words of encouragement.

That's not the first time I've heard that, but I'm clueless as to what causes it. It seems a browser thing, but has happened on several browsers.

PM me w/ desired logon name and password and I'll set you up from the admin side.

Wow, good job man. That must have been quite the undertaking! This is IMO the best part about home recording. Being able to take an idea or a feeling you have and lay it down without compromises.:D

Exactly.

Well put.

... and thanks!

Awesome stuff man. I'm totally drawn it--listening to it as music, not as a project to critique.

Just listening to this made my day.

What a nice thing to say. Thanks Strat! You just made mine. :)

Really good stuff. Love the piano. Nice job. Has a real nice sheen to it that sounds professional. The drums are really tight and clear. Are they real drums recorded? They sound very real. If they are fake, I'd love to know how you accomplished that sound.
