Don't stare at the eye.
Lame name, I know, but I do name my guitars, and well, it's quite goldie. Here's the body construction thread if you'd like to review:

https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=273765

The neck came in Friday night, and I had a birthday party to attend, so I waited until today. Sorry, I was so revved and ready to go, that I forgot to take any pics until it was done. Oh well, just a bunch of sanding, polishing, measuring & drilling.

And yes, I've already strung it up, set it up, and tuned it up. Here she is (heavy rhythm first, some lead noodling second):

Next up...a bunch of pics! :D

And yes, the truss rod cover is missing. That was a little detail I forgot about when speccing out the neck. Their default is black, and I forgot to ask them if they had gold--so I got black. So I gotta find a gold one.

Please send Goldilocks to my house...I have sent the bears on an errand and the porridge is on the table waiting for her...oh..and don't wait up for her, she'll be reeeeal late.:D

Awesome project Strat! She is a beauty for sure...I can't listen to your files as I am getting ready for work...saved and will listen later.

Congrats!!

I love the minimalist approach - oh so necessary when using as rich & complex grain.
Well done with 5 extra stars for the restraint that produced such a good design result.
My only nit is that the lock nuts look a bit loud - well the bolts at least - the neck flows up into a sweep of balance & fine horizontals across a narrow vertical becoming sparser & therefore less present as they move up the neck and then wham: a solid chuncky horizontal that gives the head an almost bolt on appearance. Any chance of neutralizing them/that? It may be resolved by the black cover - have you popped it on just to see?
Now I've rabbited on about a very minor thing BUT the wonderful aesthetic of the guitar's overall design drew my eye to it.
Oh, yep, I'll have it if you tire of it, please!!
Oh, Oh, - it sounds fanmazing!

Wow--thanks for the kind words everyone!

True--I'm a little afraid to send Goldie out on her own--she's so young. Maybe I'll have to come with her.

Ray--I see what you're saying about the locking nut. In the design phase, I was worried about those black black bolts jumping out of all that amber & gold, but in the end I thought it might tie in nicely to the black bolts on the tremolo. Kind of a symmetry. That's also why I went with plain black dot neck markers--to reinforce the little black dot as an accent.

And I did put the black truss rod cover up there just to see. I think it's too heavy. But y'know--I think i'll try a cream colored cover (like the color of the pickup). Maybe the combination of cream, gold & black on both the top and bottom end will help balance it all out.

Chili--Yep, I let the guit project jump in line ahead of you. But can you guess what guitar I'll be using now? :D

I think it sorta gives it a collar'd look..Strat the master..Goldilocks a slave in his hands...:eek::spank:

Oh..and Strat..I wouldn't send her out alone with me either..soooo..chaperone it is!!!:D

BTW...she sounds awesome! The finish is absolutely gorgeous!

You have a project to be proud of! This is so much more fun, than collecting thimbles, don't ya think?

gorgeous guitar!!!! (looking and sounding - love the playing, too).

This is the same one you've been working on for a while, right? (oh yes, the link). Nice job - I'm way jealous!

Yep, same one. I wasn't really working on it all this time. I finished the body and it sat on a shelf for well over a year! In the meantime, I did two other builds--both much cheaper and easier (a tele & a strat) but for some reason it took me forever to pull the trigger on the neck for this one. I'm glad I finally did!

Man oh man...amazing how we can be so conditioned to something familiar, that when there is a little twist in the tale, our bwains still read it as straight story!!

GOLDIROCKS True, GOLDIROCKS!!!! Not GoldiLOCKS!:spank:

And rather than point out my psycho moment, you were just polite as could be!:D

Are your noodling sessions through the Carvin?

What a babe !

I too sometimes have named my instruments. My two electro-acoustics are Ethel and Agatha (Agatha Boot for short ! I was gonna name a band Agatha Boot many years ago, but it never happened so if anyone wants an Alice Cooper/Uriah Heep/Jethro Tull type name.....), my double bass was called Lorna, my bass guitar was Samantha and my Hammond organ was Matilda. These three are sadly no longer with me.
They played like old ladies too ! (that is, very wisely....:p)

Nope--no Carvin amp on this one. It's just too easy for me to go my trusty favorite POD patch--especially so late at night. Besides, I'm so familiar with that patch, that I can pretty easily get a feel for how a guitar sound compared to others.

But today I did plug in to the Legacy. WOW!!! I loved it. It's got a nice midgrangey snarl that my others don't have. I'll set up some mics and track it soon!

Ha ha, yeah when I made the 'expectant mother' reply, I figured I was down the list a notch or two. lol :D But I'll be honored to have that cherry popped on one of my tunes!!!

Congratulations WhiteStrat,

I hope she's as much fun to play as she is to look at. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! She really is just as fun to play. And that's got to be the most satisfying part of it all.

Just a detail, I know...but it was the one detail that kept it from being completely finished in my mind. Well now it's really done. The truss rod cover is on. Found a cream cover that matched the cream of the pickup. Just as I had hoped, it balanced it out nicely (to my eyes anyway).
