Did NOT get an 8track on ebay :(

Even if we tend to forget, ebay can be a dangerous place ... I got ripped off too once. Some guy in England selling an old tuner (Sony 88). I payed him but never got the device ... seems there´s not so much you can do.

No, they're around in the UK. I thought they used one in the film 'Breaking Glass', but it's a bit too early. Either way, they're not nearly as common as in the US, but they are around.

Actually, one just ended on ebay yesterday. It fetched £289.
 
OK! What I watch is Austrian and German ebay - sometimes shipping will be just as expensive when arriving from UK so maybe I ought to extend my hunting ground ...
One Tascam half inch track jsut went for 252 Euros here but I do not want to buy expensive tape - there´s a Fostex 80 up next that I´m going to try my luck on.
 
FYI - there are at least 3 Fostex R8 decks on USA eBay right now...not sure if any will ship to you...but check them out.

Got the Fostex 80 now - hope it arrives in good condition (seller in Germany)!!! It went for only 158 €.
Looking forward to having some real knobs clicking under my fingers ...
 
I had a similar problem myself. A friend who is hardcore digital was going to give me his old barely-used Tascam 4-track cassette porta, but after turning his house upside down for 2 months now, he still can't find it...I hate being promised free stuff and being let down!
