Anyone have specific recommendations/experiences for studio recording a Martin HD28? It has a big bottom end that gets muddied up with a few different mics I have tried.

pair of 81's at the 12th pointing away from the soundhole, pair of sdc's pointed there
That would be for well defined picking or dominant acoustic, for a blend in the mix you can stick a Large at the 12th pointing at fretboard and throw one up by you ear pointing at the soundhole (nice fill)
I get good results with AT4040 my AT4040 at the bottom of the guitar and M Audio Luna pointed at the 12th fret. Stereo panned. I Have a Martin D series 15 I think, but it has some kind ofGuitar Center special model number for them. But I know exactly what you mean with Martins, very bottom and boom heavy.

All good recomendations so far...I throw the KSM32 into the mix...AT4033 is also the type of mic that would pick up any acoustic great...even one that could be boomy.
