Right, I don't know as much as many who have posted before me and I know nothing about you, but what I do know is that while you're young and you've got no bills to pay and other people who rely on you is the best time to get a shitty job and blow your money on the best gear you can get with money from said shitty job.
If I could go back (I sound so old) then I would have got a job at 16 instead of nearly 18, spent every penny I earned in those 8 hours a week I did on quality gear that would have lasted me a life time.
Instead I put off getting a job, I spent money on booze and video games and now I have to really force myself to keep what little cash I have left in my bank so eventually I can buy something I want.
Just think how sweet it'd be if everyone in the band worked a couple hours a week and saved it for quality gear. If that image of awesome stacks, shiney drums and pro mics doesn't motivate you then I don't know what would!

Can't believe I'm gonna say this, but....
Try out a Crate Blue Voodoo 60. I actually use one next to my Mesa Dual Rec (I run them both in stereo). These can be found very cheap (I bought the whole half stack off craigslist for $200). I am NOT a fan of Crate by any means, but this really is a good sounding amp on both clean and gain channels, and 60 watts is plenty loud, and keeps right up with my 100 watt Mesa. In fact, I actually like the clean channel better than the clean channel on the Dual Rec.
Other than that, I will give the same advice I give to all newbies......
Beg, borrow, steal to get a really GREAT amp that you will love for a long time, no matter how badly you can't afford it..........
..... or waste good money after bad going thru a bunch of amps until you finally drop a bundle on a good, quality amp years down the road, and wish you had all the money back that you wasted on crap.

I can believe that. There have been certain Crates that way outperformed for their price. I always liked that Palomino series that GC had and I've heard the Blue Voodoo sound really good.
