With my new mics, I thought I'd rip out a beat and see how it sounds on all your systems... Any nits?

Rippin' Drums

Thanks!

sounds good for dry drums. atleast on my monitors :)

Toms sound good. Kick and snare are pretty bland and lifeless. It depends on what kind of mix you build around these drums, but I'd bet they'd sound pretty flat in a loud rock mix. There's no crack or air to the snare. The kick is pretty fluffy. Keep working with it.

Thanks for the critique... Much appreciated. Do you have any experience with the Audix I5? Sounds like it could be a good candidate for a good snare mic...

It is. I used to have one for about a month. It got stolen from a gig. Great snare mic. Comparable to, if not better than, the trusty Shure sm57.

Yeah, Jason, the snare and the kick could use some brightness. Of course it would be interesting to hear how it works with other instruments around.

Joey :)
