ok, i have a keyboard/synth, that has a midi line built in.

Maybe, I got a yamaha keyboard with usb midi, I can plug other midi stuff into it. What kinda keyboard is it? Can you describe "has a midi line built in" a little better?

Any keyboard that has a MIDI jack on it can be used as a controller.
You can either plug it into a MIDI jack on your audio interface, if it has one, or buy a MIDI to USB adapter.

I'm pretty sure there are some keyboards that may only have a usb port which can be used as midi

Yes, any keyboard with a USB port can be used as a MIDI controller.

well, it has the 2 midi ports in the back, the midi out, and the midi in.
