Very simple

Just cut the events you like to keep at the various tracks/takes. Mute the rest and export the track and indicate you want to import te resulting comped track in Cubase again.

Cheers

Sorry to offend, but that's like going around your elbow to get to your a-hole. Use the edit tool and take the parts that you want and move them appropriately to a new track. Done, add whatever effects you had before. No mixdown involved. Be sure you crossfade the overlapped audio. In cubase, you have to highlight the area you want crossfaded and then push x. When you crossfade you'll want to take your snaps off. When you edit, you want your snaps on.

is there a tutorial?

i have been using le4 for a little over a year now and have gotten to the point where i need to start comping things the right way. i basically just open up three or four tracks at a time and do one after another then start the cutting and when im done i move it all back to one track. but if im trying to lay leads over a 8 track recording. my computer makes it difficult as there are some playback problems when the asio time usage meter goes off the chart. when i saw propellerhead's record program, you could record over the same track in loop mode and have a seperate take every time, then simply open up all the takes and edit seamlessly. problem is i like cubase and would like to upgrade. bu ti need to learn how to use it first. is there a similar way of comping in cubase and more importantly is there a tutorial anywhere on how to do it?
