I just bought an Alesis iMultimix 8. It's plugged into my computer via usb and is basically working as a soundcard - I have my speakers plugged into it etc (and it sounds great). However I can't get a signal when I try and record with it. I go to adjust audio properties -> Audio and under recording, the options for it are grayed out and unclickable. When I do volume options -> properties -> recording, there are no checkboxes under recording.

It's like there are no recording channels when I use the usb audio driver as my sound card. I am picking up sound w the mic (it plays through the speakers) but it isn't getting picked up by my recording software. I am pretty sure I have all the drivers installed.

Thanks for any help, I appreciate it.

What OS are you running?

I know Alesis doesn't support 64bit OS, they still don't have drivers for vista 64 and its been otu for a few years... they have vista 32 bit

I'm running XP 32 bit.

download an ASIO FOR ALL driver............this might solve your problem man.

your computer might not recognize your mixer due to its currently installed drivers.

After you install the asio for all driver which can be found via a google search....you should be good to go........maybe......hopefully.....but that driver will recognize almost anything that is of a USB connection.

Yes to asio4all. And make sure you completely remove your old sound card if you can, or if it's integrated on your mobo, disable it in bios. My asio was picking up my old sound card as inputs 1-2, and 3-16 on my interface, until I made the integrated sound card non-existant to xp.
