...our 1st attempt at video...set camcorder up at last band practice and let it roll, used all the "auto" settings on the camera(focus, light, brightness etc..) and of course, we had to have our cheezee lights and smoke machine on :p...the video came out pretty dark, but I was kinda surprised the audio, whch is from the onboard mic's , didnt distort that bad...here it is...I'm the guitar player in the dark fr most of this, except my picking hand...

Queeps - nice one - could've put a light on your scone so I could see you. There's only a little distortion & the bass top end clicks were annoying but that's the mic I guess.
Good cover - I'm slowly learning about Rush - I have a retrospective best of & Moving Pictures. Is there anything else I should listen to?

Thanks Ray....I have some other tunes were the light is a little better...will definetly put more effort into getting a better vid next time....I love Rush, so I enjoy most of there output....my personel fav period would be there kind of proggy era.... "2112" thru "Signals" ('76-81'), with Hemispheres being my favorite....I really enjoyed there latest "Snakes And Arrows" as well.....

Hemispheres is also my favorite. Nice work, and excellent guitar playing.

Just for fun, here's a link to the LPC massacre of Entre Nous: www.beezertpudwhacker.com/WestFeast/LPC.wmv

:o

This is a better education into Rush than I've managed with retrospectives. Pared down & the structure more evident.
Nice one casey - good bass tone from the fingers too - very proggy heads down!
Queepy - stoner indeed.
I hope you folks don't mind that I've downloaded these.

Just watched working man. Yeah, the guitar playing is killer on this queeps! The other dudes are jamming right along fine too except I couldn't hear their parts as clearly as yours.

I really like the guitar tone. A bit heavier than the original maybe? I've never quite bought into rush except for a brief time during middle school maybe. I saw them once live in a hockey arena in the mid- '80's and just didn't quite get it. I think I used to have the cassette that this tune is from though...their first album?...certainly from before they hit it big, yes?

Anyway, the video is fine although I can barely make any of you out and an odd blurriness comes and goes at times...like the camera is trying to focus on the lightshow or something :p:)?

Is that a gibson you're playing...or?

Checked out the cream tune as well...now I am very familiar with them and this isn't too much slower than some of their versions of it. Again, great guitar sound. I wish I could hear the drums better cause they are one of the biggest parts of this song that keep it from merely being a cool riff, and it sounds like your drummer was wailing away pretty good. Does he like playing as ginger baker?...I'd think that would be awesome for anyone that could actually do it.

I miss some of the higher wailing jack bruce-ish vocal parts, but this is certainly solid. Nice job all around man.:):)

nice vids. I really liked Sunshine Of Your Love. Very good job boys.

nice job covering this tune. It's been so long since I've heard the original, but seems to be a lot of room for improv. You guys are tight.

Love the pick guard!!! (well, that's all I can see... :o )

Cool man.

The music sounds good but the bass player's singing is down right painful to listen to. He keeps jumping in and out of key and from sharp to flat.

yup the bassist was a bit all over the place :)

great guitar! great performance!

So these videos are from your practice space? I'd redo the lighting. With nothing but the stage lights, it kind of looks like you're playing to a completely empty bar or something. Also, it's so dark you can't see anything! :D

heatmiser - Thanks for checking it out...the audio was straight from the onboard mic of the camcorder, so it's not to great...I experimented with synching the audio from my mini disc recording to the video, bypassing the onboard mic capture...I think it is a lot better, will post it shortly...The guitar is a Gibson Firebird Studio, drummer is influenced a lot by Mitch Mitchell, Ginger Baker, Steve Gadd, and Billy Cobham...these are the guys he talks about all the time anyways....thanks for your comments, much appreciated!!

dodgeaspen - Thanks, glad ya dug it!

getuhgrip - cool man...thanks for checking it!

Chili - Yeah, I tend to be a kinda improv, never play it exactly the same way twice kinda guy:p....thanks for checking it out, appreciate your comments!

ocnor - I think he has a really hard time playing bass in a 3 piece and singing....we are really working on the vocals...have been trying out some singers....we just have great chemistry between us, and since this is just for fun, it's not really worth it to bring in the "wrong" guy, no matter how talented, that would ruin the vibe and fun we have. Thanks for checking it out and your feedback..I appreciate it!

kcearl - Hey, thanks a lot man..I really appreciate it!!

VomitHatSteve - Yeah, it is our practice space...this was kinda spur of the moment, we normally dont practice with the stage lights etc....I just set the camera up on a tripod, set evreything to auto, and hit record...didn't relize how dark it was to middle of practice when I decided to check out what we had so far...we adjusted after that...will see if there is anyything worth uploading....thanks for the feedback!

Here is another "experiment" I did with the video today...I attempted to synch the audio from my mini disc recording to the video, while muting the onboard camera mic sound....was pretty tedious to try and align video and sound, but I think I'm pretty close....also think the audio is better...especially if you choose the "HQ" option! I think the lighting might be a little better also:p..at least my face gets hit by a strobe light a couple of times , which makes it look like a ugly floating head:D....
here it is, a cover of R:Dock And Roll hootchie koo:

I hate saying anything negitive... the guitar is sweet. Get a lead singer. The vocals are not horrible but a real lead singer would let the bass player vocus on playing bass and he would be great doing backup vocals. Good stuff though.

Thanks for the honest feedback...Our bass player is the 1st to admit his vocal shortcomings...he had never sang lead before, and when we put this 3 man thing together...it has been a lot of fun not dealing with ego's, prima donnas, douche bags etc... we have actually begun looking for a vocalist, tried a guy out a couple weeks ago, but he had never sang in a live band...but is a wiz at Karaoke..it didn't work out to well, but we will keep searching...thanks for checking it and comments...appreciate it!
