I have grown tired of people saying "so and so is a great songwriter...they are just so obscure and under rated and don't really have the success and record sales they deserve...blah blah blah"

The cream rises to the top. Highly successful songwriters have chart topping songs because millions of people like their damn songs. Obscure unsuccessful songwriters are broke and starving because you and 1000 other people like their damn songs.

There are songwriters that I like who have not achieved a large degree of success...but I realize that it is just my personal preference and most people would not be into their stuff.

It generally comes down to how long the tunes stay out there. Like the gerg I'm no Beatles fan but I really can't see anyone whistling any of her tunes in forty years let alone covering them. The Beatles on the other hand.

Let the girl have her day but she ain't going to be covered across genres and decades the way the Beatles are.
 
By Jimi's logic, the Jonas Brothers and the Back Street Boys are brilliant songwriters/artists too. :rolleyes:

See, I thought Taylor was in the business of creating and selling guitars, and that part of that business might involve investigating new markets and marketing opportunities - such as young girls, and that given the obvious name tie in pointed out by the poster I'm quoting, and the "hot" nature of Taylor Swift in the public consciousness at the moment, this would be a lay down misere for them to try...

I would do it if I were Taylor.

Now, if you guys were buying more Taylor guitars, they probably wouldn't have to resort to this sort of stuff, so it's clearly your own fault...

Is this in some way different to Hannah Montanah guitars and indeed the Daisy Rock guitars?

Or, because guitars are symbols of cool, shouldn't manufacturers be involved in base business practices such as this as they risk pissing off their core market..
