Hey, I have been using Logic pro 7 for long time and I love it. but once in a while I get work in protools. I know If I buy the digi 002 to do video Im gonna have to spend a lot of money in dv tool kit because I do tv sometimes.
What's the main difference between logic and pro tools? is it worthed to spend that much money on it?

let me know your thoughts

cheers

Yes and no.

Pro Tools to me is one of the easiest setups on the planet when it comes to editing, recording and stuff like that. It's pretty stripped down compared to other DAWs, which I like. Pro Tools is the only DAW that was born in the studio.

However, you don't really need to spend the money unless you plan on getting work from people who setup thier arrangements in pro tools. Whichever way you look at it, Pro Tools is still used by most major studios in the world, so I have it just to be more flexible to people.

I don't use Logic, so I wish I could give you a clean cut difference between the two.

wasn't the learning curve on Logic steep enough for you? :p

i use Logic, too. it's what i learned on and i'd rather not waste the time learning something else, which is unfortunate because i use zero.

if learning PT will help get work, or make that work more efficient, do it.

Im happy with logic and I know pro tools (not expert). But working with video in logic is kind of slow and everytime I used pro tools in the past with video it was great. Is just that the dv tool kit in protools is over $1000 so I think Im gonna stay with my logic till I have the money

Only if you want to be locked into using very specific hardware. Why anyone would want to limit their choices??? :confused:

well its like this...

if you get work or even more work (which is probably whats gonna happen) using pro tools then thats what you should concentrate on getting. Before i got pro tools i watched every video i could get my hands on and asked all i could becau i knew i would 1 day make it my main DAW.

Moral of the story no matter what anyone says your never trully limiting yourself as long as you know all your options. I know all my pro tools options and capabilities so im more than satisfied with my purchase and decision. I suggest you cover the same basis fam
