Ok, I got a tascam 424 off a friend....hardly used.. Recording is no problem, but I am trying to get the reverb from my effects unit to record on the tape...During recording ,it's there,on playback, not there.. I have set the switches like it says in the owners manual but no luck.....am I missing something?...Thanks

It's been a while since I've messed with mine. If I get a chance when I get home this evening, I'll get it hooked up and see if I can give you an answer.;)

I am having the exact same problem with my 414, anyone got any ideas???

Sorry, didn't mean to leave you hanging. I'm kid free this morning so I'll dig it out after breakfast and give it a whirl.

Do you have the manual for it? How do you have everything set? Give us a starting point as to what you have done and that might narrow it down for us.;)

Well I did everything the manual said to do. Checked it,rechecked it,re re checked it.....nothin......haven't really messed with it much more..I have an 8 channel recorder as my own,but my daughter is starting to mess around with music (she plays bass, flute, trumpet and is learning guitar) so I want to get it going for her....I have set the switches like the book said, and just get frustrated but no recorded effects......any help would be appreciated....:D

I fired mine up for a few minutes and had it hooked up to my delay unit. I don't think I remember quite how to set everything. I saw the lights on the delay lighting up, but couldn't get it to come back to tape. I'll try again maybe tomorrow evening.

The only way i could get it to do it was when bouncing, pretty sure you can add effects unless bouncing/exporting all the tracks to somewhere else unless its thru the mic ie a guitar pedal and not thru the effects send and return function. Might be wrong tho, was the only way I could get it to work.

On my 424, using the efx send, I'd return the efx to inputs 5/6 or 7/8. The only way to record the efx would be to record in buss L-R mode, not the direct channel since inputs 5/6 and 7/8 go to the main mix. For reverb, personally, I recorded it while mixing it be applied once. For other effects that I wanted recorded, I just played directly through them into the track inputs, bypassing the efx loop.
