Just wondering why most mic's are named with some combination of letters and numbers instead of giving them cool names.

I refer to the SM57 as the "hammer" because I find it more useful hammering things into place then using it as a microphone, and I have heard people refer to the MD421 as the "electric razor" probably because it looks kind of like one.

So do you have any cool nicknames for your mic's? Why do you think manufactureres don't give mic's names more often?

Most of my mics, regardless of who makes them, are POS.
Does that count?:D

I trust you're familiar with BLUE mics? Look at the model names of their (wonderful) microphones...that oughtta be all the explanation you need for why most manufacturers stick with some combination of letters and numbers.

You need to get some old Electro-Voice dynamic mics, like an RE15 or a 635a. They make much better hammers than an SM57...and, arguably, much better microphones.
