I got a FMR RNP (really nice preamp) in the mail yesterday. It has 2 channels on it and lots of gain. I hooked it up to the snare with a shure 57 and the guitar amp with a beyerdynamics M500 ribbon mic.

I posted a short soundclip at the site below.

I also took apart my studio and redid the baffles and am experimenting with mounting sandals to the beater pedals. I took most of the tension off the pedals so that they have very little spring to them. Mounting the the shoes to the pedals gives me an up and down control of the pedals. I love monkeying around with all this stuff. Kind of like the guys who try to turn lead into gold. Here are some pictures.

Thanks for sharing, Walter. Congrats on your recent contest win!! I had my sons come and watch it with me, and afterward, my 5 year old was singing the harmonica part!
My 17 year old was explaining what you said about the sandals on your drum pedals (he plays drums, etc.). It was really cool to get to see your pics of your setup!

Wow, that made my day! thanks for sharing this. For the past ten years or so, I play out very little (not my choice), and being alone in my studio for 2-4 hours everyday, I often think what I am doing is just for my ears and soul. When it touches someone else, it is very moving. Walter
