MS-16 sales ad

I remember that ad! :)

I still have all my old Mix mags and that ad was in it a few times back in the late 80's!

I should pull my MS-16 out of the closet and do a few glamor shots of it!...when I have the time and inclination, that is. :D

Cheers! :)

Cool add. Hey Ghost, why don't you use your 16 anymore? You should sell it to me! If I only had the money.

I had the machine up for sale a while back and lots of guys were interested in it except like you, they also were buyers with empty pockets. :p

Can someone please explain to me why all musicians are terminally broke, from cradle to grave????

I'm also into photography and a while back, put one of my cameras on Craig's List and within 2 hours of posting the ad, I had it sold to a guy from 30 miles away who ran to bank to get the cash and even borrowed a friend's car to get to my place before anyone else could buy it! :D

Why don't I use it any more?(MS16), because I'm living in an apartment and can't set up a proper studio in here. :o

Cheers! :)

Good thing I did it all backwards... got a good job FIRST and then got serious about music. Without me, the used recording gear market would be nonexistent ;)

Ha ha.... just kidding.

Jeff...you got some serious competition with me on the used gear market and you know it. I even got you to buy one of mine! MWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!:D:o

heeheh

Hey Danny, awhile ago you put up some links to old 48 and 58 stuff...you don't happen to have anything like that on the 388 do you? Like sales brochures?

Thanks for putting the MS-16 ad up. I personally think the MS-16 is the best looking of all of Tascam's 1" 16 tracks.

BTW, I'm looking at the cover of my Randy Alberts "TASCAM: 30 Years of Recording Evolution" book and it looks like the cover art sniped an exerpt of that photo for the cover:

As I mentioned a post back, I was thinking about dragging my MS-16 out of storage and taking a couple of proper portrait studio pictures of it.

I got one done so far...

What do you think?

Man, that's a nice one, Jeff. Like one of the early TASCAM brochures but better!:)

Very nice Ghost. You're very luck to have the remote function cables. I have been looking for a set for years. I wish I had that kind of space to take a picture of my MS-16. http://s247.photobucket.com/albums/gg137/pianodano/Studio/?action=view&current=IMG_0577.jpg

Do you still have your (2) M-312's ? Or do I have it wrong now. At least it seems like that's what you had when you hung out at Tascam Forum.

Regards,

Danny

Yeah, I'm so lucky that I paid $3500 originally for the machine and close to another 3 grand on maintenance to bring it back to factory spec! :D

And yes, I still have the two M312B's with the custom African mahogany sides and the custom stand for them! :) I haven't sold a damn thing!

And, yeah, it was nice to get it with all the optional items when I got it. This is also what pisses me off when I try to sell it and people want to only offer me what the washed up, incomplete junkers go for.

Anyway, here's portrait # 2!

Thanks Daniel!

I take my photography as seriously as I did my recording hobby so I appreciate the kind review!

Cheers! :)

Beautiful pictures. I'm sorry if I struck a nerve. I would have a hard time selling any of my stuff too.

Hey, no problem! ;)

I just sometimes get mad at myself for all the money I spent on equipment that has turned out to be so worthless when I was thinking about selling it. In truth, if I had a decent place to record in again, I'd set everything up and give it another go as the musical spirit hasn't completely left my body yet...it's just sort of been in hibernation for a few years since I moved into this apartment. I do have plans to get a house one day and get back into it but I took a bit of a bath on the stock market this past year and have been struggling to make back what I've lost and at the same time, trying to get my working life back together since I was layed off back in January of this year.

Life can really throw you a curve now and then! :D

Cheers! :)

Don't sell your gear.

Damn! I had typed out a really long reply to you Ghost and the whole thing dissappeared when I tried to post it. I can't type it again right now but hang in there man and things will get better.

No doubt!

Actually, things are looking up right now! I just got an appointment to speak with an assessment councilor for a training program that the government here has recently set up and this could allow me to go back to school and get paid while I learn! There are several different career opportunities that they consider high demand and depending on if I qualify, this could mean free schooling, an extension on my unemployment insurance and a decent chance at a better paying career!

Cheers! :)
