Okay so I've had a Tascam DP-02 CF for a while now, but am getting fed up with one thing. I have a Behringer C3 condenser microphone (laugh it up) which requires phantom power to run (as i'm sure you know). The only problem is, I have to crank the input level to the very max in order to get some sound, resulting in background fuzz being recorded because the input volume is so high. Could it be that my Mic is just a piece of crap? ALL ANSWERS APPRECIATED THANKS!

ALSO!!!

What would be suggested as the best microphone for recording Acoustic Guitar and Vocals (for under 200 bucks)

First of all, if there is a mic/line switch on the Tascam channel strip, make sure it's set to "mic". Then make sure you actually have the phantom power turned on. I don't know about the DP-02, but sometimes you have to look on the back to find a phantom power on/off switch.

There is a possibility that the pres on that unit just don't provide enough gain or juice for the C3. Unfortunately the DP-02 is such an entry level device that Tascam doesn't bother publishing specifications on the mic preamps or phantom power they put in there, so I can't comment any more than say it's a possibility. Unfortunately that's a chance one takes when they try to do this stuff on the cheap; the important specifications are sometimes compromised and even more often unpublished.
