if you have active EQ that means the pickups are active.
And if you have a passive bass that does not mean you will sound like crap as someone else mentioned is false information. I have several passive bass and I sound good playing any one of them.
if you suck then an active bass is only going to enhance your suck.
you can polish a turd but all you will have is a shiny turd.
I'm not saying you suck but you get the picture, right?
the only thing active electronics does is boosts the signal and will give you a little more tone shaping capability's from the bass which you can do the same thing or more with an amp or pre amp that has 2,3,4 band EQ.

HA! Yeah UPS just picked up the bass. I will know something by next Friday whether the new one they send me is a keeper or not.
Ya one of the reasons I did not recommend SX

Actually, this is usually not true. Please look at the links I posted above. EMG sells active PICKUPS where the PICKUPS actually require a battery to work. This has NOTHING to do with tone knobs - only with the pickups.
If you're talking about me, I actually said the opposite.
After buying and selling a couple basses with active EQs, I throw in the towel. They suck. Leo Fender started with a passive bass (the Precision) and ended with a passive bass (the SB-1 and SB-2. The other G&L basses don't count. THEY DON'T COUNT!!!!11one) Now I will only buy, own, and play basses with fully passive electronics.

Yes that is exactly what I meant, active pups are 9Vbattery operated and wire into a tiny circut board that are routed to control pots that which set the volume and EQ.

that is one thing I like about these Rogues they are active or passive
I usually play passive except for recording.

Once again, active pickups and active EQ are different things. You are talking about active EQ. If you follow the link I originally posted, you will find PICKUPS that require a battery to work, and this has nothing whatsoever to do with any sort of circuit boards or EQ. They're more common for guitars than basses, but they are sold for bass guitars. It's just a minor point that should be cleared up before someone orders "active pickups" expecting an active EQ, only to receive active pickups.

I know what you are saying I have a bass with active pickups and it will not work without a battery but I also have a bass that has active or passive pickupsIOW it will work with or without a battery I just have to push the pot to turn the bass on active or pull it to turn it off.
