Leading Me On - Mix #3

Great sounds! The vocals sound great, but I think could use some more compression to smooth out the dynamics. They disappear into the mixand then jump back out at you with each syllable.

I’m new to commenting on mixing so this is probably all about my taste or lack of it, rather than anything technical. Or it could just be my headphones?

I find that the rhythm guitars are panned too far apart leaving the centre of the field very open – exposing the bass, lead and vocal to exist in there own space. This maybe what you want? I know I tend to like big wall of sound arrangements.

I think that is part of the bass issues, without even a 'bleed' of guitar from left or right it seems separate from the other guitarists and I think that is why you feel they are out of beat; when I don't think they are.

The bass I would love to hear fatter you’ve got all those ‘high grit’ harmonics in the other guitars I’d love to hear some really deep stuff going on with the lower end – I think the tonality of your vocals would sit even better with that thickness behind them.

I find the guitars all very similar in tone, even the lead – what does it sound like in a mono mix? Can you distinguish all the elements?

Your vocals are so distinct (I have always enjoyed them when you’ve posted on song writing), and the band’s musicianship excellent. The song itself is engaging and has a great feel.

I'll mention the bass to Mike as he's thinking of doing another bass track. I panned the guitars hard based on previous comments from prior songs. I definitely know where you're coming from there as that was how I used to mix them. Maybe I'll pull them in a few percentage points when I remix this to try and fill it in/round it off a bit. The bass really became prominent when I high passed the guitars which was a neat thing to learn - I had always thought about boosting something but subtractive eq really does work....

There is a compressor on the vocals now - perhaps upping the threshold might help....Another thing to look at while waiting for a bass track. :D

Cool rocker man! Very nice vocals...smmoth! Guitars have a nice crunch to them...great, catchy riff...was kinda expecting a blazin' guitar solo after the bridge type part around 2:00 min mark...
Tight song , great job!

Much better Ido. Love the growly bass that wasn't there before. Good job bud. :)

This song be da bomb, dude!

Good idea and Great Avatar - I'm pretty much done this baby guitar wise for now. I think Mike may record a new bass track - that's about it. Then back to the mixing table again....:D
Hi, IDO!
