Hey guys, I just got my set up an mxl 4000 and a preonus usb audio box and record on a laptop. I tested me equipment in audacity, works fine. I go to cool edit and record and im getting half of the sound.... like its only picking up the right hand side. I have no clue what the problem is... can someone offer advice

I am having the same problem. I was set up with a Mackie 32-4 board, and everything was fine. Then I tried to go mobile with a powered board, and now only get the right side coming through, no matter what board I'm hooked to. It changed when I plugged into the powered board...... HELP!!

You may be recording in mono when you want to be in stereo. Go to Options/Preferences (I think it is -- I'm not near my recording computer at the moment) and set the default to "stereo" instead of "mono." Also, when you assign a track to an input, make sure the "stereo" is ticked rather than "L" or "R."

Thanks for the response,

I have no "Preferences" under the options tab. That's one of my issues. I have yet to find any buttons allowing me to switch between stereo and mono. I just hope I didn't mess up the sound card in the laptop.
