BR-600 & ART Preamp help.

Hi. Does anyone use a preamp with their usual dynamic mic. set-up?
I've got an ART V3 connected to my BR-600,and am getting a lot of unwanted noise. Now I know that this should be connected to a line in/out but on the BR-600 there 'aint one? So I've just got it patched into the normal Mic. Input.
If there are any BOSS users,or anyone else for that matter,who can throw their expertise this way,it would be greatly appreciated.
 
Yes, there is a Line In! It's a stereo 1/8" jack, though, so you need a RCA-to-1/8" adapter cord. It's between the MIC1 and Line Out jacks.

If you're getting a lot of noise its because the preamp is amplifying the noise coming into it or because the preamp itself is noisy. What's it sound like when you plug the mic directly into the BR600's MIC input?

I actually found the line-in after asking this Q.
What I'm going to try is go XLR - XLR into preamp/then either XLR - 1/8 TRS or 1/4 TRS - 1/8 TRS into Line In on BR600. Not real sure where you came up with the RCA - 1/8? RCA's are for monitoring out,yeah?
Anyway,pretty sure this should work. Haven't tried Mic.(57 FWIW) direct,too late @ mo.
Will tomorrow,also will drag out my condensor & see what happens re. that.& no,I don't have phantom power on for the 57.Cables are quality,no power interference...
Something else strange I've noticed is that the preamp VU meter is not registering anything?Even with in/output pushed up.
Mmmm. Fun & games. Never seemed to have these problems w/my trusty old Tascam analogue.
 
I was guessing the preamp had RCAs. I go from the RCAs out of my Line 6 Guitarpod to the line in jack on teh BR600.

No mate. Preamp has XLR balanced & 1/4 unbalanced for in/output.
RCA outs are on BR600.I send those to a monitoring system.
