Which tubes for Art MPA Gold upgrade?

i have 2 ART Pro Channels .. i put 3 matched NOS 1960s Telefunken 12ax7 in one (put the other 3 in my 1970 Marshall JMP100 - just had to) .. smokin' joe frazier and his little brother marlin! simply: smooth and milky.. thing is, tube/toob opinions and science besides - it doesn't hurt to have a few NOS tubes around. Don't mess with anything other than NOS - there's just something about all that germanium that gets things pumping. Understand, of course that you could easily pay as much for the tubes as you did for the pre.

Germanium is a semiconducting metal that was used in early transistors, but tubes are typically tungsten elements and nickel plates--I'm far from an expert, but I don't think germanium was used.

I also have not read on ART's site that the Pro Channel is full plate voltage. It might be based on the earlier Pro MPA topology.

sorry, i thought this was a thread about which tubes to put in the ART pre amp thingie.
would not a matched set of 1960's NOS Telefunken 12ax7s be superb in a full plate voltage environment - or maybe in that Art MPA Gold thing-a-majigger?

Well, try 'em out and let us know. These Mullards are one of the highest rated new issue 12AX7's.

Only the MPA Gold and Voice Channel are stated to have full plate voltage.
