Taking advantage of vacation time and been developing some new tunes.
This one marks my debut on keyboards:p...The bass player in my band has a old Ensoniq synth that he let me mess with....probably hasn't been played in 15 years...cleaned it up, taped the note names above the keyboard :p, and let er rip.....was difficult mixing with the synth and guitars...here is what I came up with:

Sweet! Love the arrangements like the way the backup vocals follow the guitars. The lead might come up a tad. You're vocals are well done here - and are up front where I like 'em...Lyrics are great - made me a bit well you know...at times... Happy New Year! :D

Thankd Idol...struggeled with the lead guitar and synths seeming to fight for air...going to address that when I work on it next...
Happy New Year to you as well...hope it's a good one!!

Ha, love this one. Good drum sound, nice space around the snare and toms. What do you use for drums? I'm a sucker for that surf rock guitar riff. To be honest I didn't notice a huge contribution from the synth, but the overall soundscape and the vocal really works well. More like this please :D

VariQueepy,
Sinister riffing. I like this & all I'd suggest is bringing the vocals down a little - they ride a bit high.
I like the screamy synth & the guitar hook hook!
Cool.

Awesome! Man I love me some Queepy tunes. How do you come up with this crazy shit? You have a chemical imbalance that I'm very jealous of. :D

I love the huge drum sound. Whatever samples you used were perfect for this song. My only nit is the lack of bass presence. I'm not really hearing any bass guitar. Main vocals can come down a hair too, but they sound good.

Kick ass job overall. :)

Hey Bulls, thanks man for the thumbs up on the drum sound...they are the Simon Phillips loops...actually from a set of loops for The Who song "Can't Explain":p..was actually starting out with the intention of covering that and then morphed it into this..I want to work on the synths and get them up there , I 'm liking the vibe they add!

hi ray, I did go out of my way not to bury the vocals or drench em' :p...agree they are a bit to out front...will work on them~!

Greg, man.the vocals are a bit up front, and to me, they seem a little...wait for it.....dry:p..I find my self going for the turd polisher folder (verb, delay , and chorus plug's :D)....but I'm holding out...gonna try and pull em back in the mix and see if they fit better...Cool to get props on drum sounds from you and Bulls hit...2 of my fav net drummers :D Thanks man.

OK, taking the advice of the fine folks who offered feedback on this one, I attempted a remix on this....I tried to bring out the Bass guitar and keyboards , as well as reign in the lead vocals a little. Also did some panning of the guitar solo's and tried to make them a little clearer.
The link at the top of the thread plays the new mix, as will this:

You know what I hear in this big time, bud?

HORN SECTION!!! :D Seriously ... think Savoy Truffle (White Album) ... I think they'd take things up another notch.

Mix is clean ... and I like how the energy steps up in the lead section.

Nothing seems out of place here ... to me anyways.

Nice work!

Hey Kev...thats a cool idea...have to see if I can figure out how to do it on the synth.... Thanks for the listen, appreciate your comments!

Wow, what a totally cool song!
Really love your style, Queepy, don't ever change....:D
Last mix you posted sounds perfect to me, everything nicely balanced. Love the way you sang this, half-spoken like....

Well done!

Thanks so much for the props Joe, glad ya dug it man!

yeah the last mix is top notch! such a cool style i love your lyrics. fun fun songs man.

are your drums programed or is it a miced kit?

I really like this one variqueep!

It strikes me as a little more straightforward vs some of your other more offbeat stuff. That in itself is neither good nor bad, I just found it interesting to hear something more accessible from you. The mix sounds great...I have nothing to suggest or comment on other than to say this was really quite well done.

Very fun. Nice job.

I listened to both mixes one after the other--the new one is a little better, but I like the tone of the bass in the first mix, and the volume of the bass in the second mix. I wonder, did you boost some low frequencies on the bass for the second mix? Or was it the whole mix? (I listened on headphones) Now it sounds maybe a tad to 'boomy'.

Anyway, keep it up mate.

Oh yeah, the synth stuff is fine. They have a way of dominating a mix; in my experience, you have to be extremely careful with them. A little goes a long way.

Again, nice sounding mix.
