Its been a while since I have been able to do any recording (chronic health problems). Im very rusty and my ears are shot. This is a cover of a song which many may not know. The band was called "The Godz". The song is "714". You younger kids wont know what that is, but us older rockers do. I was going for that early 80's big hair band overal sound and I think, due to my tired ears, I screwed it up. Mix wise let me know how it sounds. I rendered the mix, then loaded it back into a new session to mess with the overal eq and to get the overal level up. But, tired ears lead to certain destruction. :) I think mix wise I have the levels fine. Just maybe went too much on tweaking the final mix. Im playing all the instruments and singing so disregard the bad vocals and my musicianship. Let me know what you think about the mix and overal sound. http://www.soundclick.com/util/getplayer.m3u?id=7602633&q=hi

BushmasterM4,
The mix isn't too bad at all.
I reached for Spandex and some hairspray when I heard the solos.
A bit compressed but then again that was hairmetal.
During the outro refrain the bass is way to toppy - as if going for a Ricky growl but missing the bottom end of the scoop.
Give your ears a break & get back to the original session tracks & take you time & take some breaks too.
Hope your health's improving...or at least stable.

Bushmaster,

I like the tune. I agree with Ray on the bass - too much high end in the outro. The guitars are tight and sound great. To my ear's I wanted to hear bigger 80's rock vocals - but that's just me.

For what its worth - I am no young guy (I wish I was) but I have no idea what the 714 is/was. I must have led a sheltered life :)

Nice work, hope you continue to get well.

Thanks. I think I compressed the mids too much. Between that and my over eq'ing. If the bass is lacking low end, its because I HPF'd the final mix too much. I usually use my Sansui/Polk 10's as a final mix tweaking system, but didnt. It was getting late and I took the mix inside my house and used my pc speakers and boombox. The mix came across too boomy on my pc and boom box, so I HPF'd the mix. I'll listen to the mix through my Polks today. I strayed from my usual mix/mastering path and it shows. Thanks again for the listen. Ive been out of practice and Ive gone to sh*t.

I wish I had those big vocals :) I need to get back out there and remix the bass and add a few more guitars to the ending to thicken it up. Thanks again.

Remixed it. Who knows. The original had its mids scooped too much. Now the low end seems weak.

Excellent.
(I downloaded 30 minutes ago, I´m sure is the new version).

Basically everything sounds good and with great stereo image.Guitars sounds pretty good (*thanks ! I´m tired by listen "harsh and ear fatigue rock guitars", and you got an excellent balance in the mids.)
Voice has a nice space in the stage and I like the performance/tone too.

Only thing if I could "put my hands" ; A bit less "kick" and more (not only "a bit":D) sub lows (50-60) on the bass drum -my personal taste .Rest (including bass guitar) sounds excellent.

Congrats:cool:

Thanks for the listen. I need to fix the snare in the beginning (a few timing problems). Drums always get me. Glad to hear it sounds fine. I will definately mess with the kick too. My ears were getting tired also.
