My motherboard will work but the onboard LAN won't. Doesn't look like my video card would work. Sound card would not work either.
Kind of a bummer. If a person built a system from the ground up ensuring all components would work then it may be a realistic option.
Don't know if it would be legal though.

if you buy osx, you have the right to edit your copy for personal reasons and NOT for distribution.
apple state that you can't install the software on non apple branded hardware,,,but if you break that rule, the only implication is that you've violated the EULA and are no longer eligible for apple customer support...so really...it seems like if you buy it,,,you can do what you want with it...
the psystar problem is that they are selling these systems,,,and making a profit,,which is much more likely to be deemed illegal.
out of interest,,,what is model is your lan,,,what codec is your audio<if it's built it> and what board is it on,,,also,,what are your graphics<slot type,mem size,brand and model>

LAN is onboard. Graphics card is PCI-Express. Yes 512MB. E-MU 1212 is PCI.
Then there is the RAM. I got Crucial I think DDR II. Don't see anything on their site that shows memory compatible with OSX.

memory compatibility is pretty much irrelevant.
your onboard lan is a no go. realtek 8169 pci card for 5 bucks will be fine.
8800gt is no longer a problem using efi strings< i can explain if necessary >
unfortunately emu pci is just a no go,,,probably ever....
if you ever plan to upgrade/change the emu,,,,,you could be onto a nice osx setup

I use Reaper as my recording program too. Currently the final version is not ready. The only version I think that is available is a beta version.

maybe it's just not for you, but i think it's worth demystifying the myth that osx on a pc will be problematic and unreliable.....
like i said before,,i'd take it over xp any day
efi strings are an alternative to using a graphics injector kext..
admittedly i dont know a WHOLE lot about it,,but i've used them....
you compile the required info in the correct format,and convert it to hex,then add it to com.apple.boot.plist..
the info for your graphics card is loaded on boot,without having to call a separate injector
i could be wrong,,but i believe real macs use this method.

there is a compatibility list on google. If you follow you'll be just fine.
I got PC with OSX on it and it works great w/o any problems.
I built it myself bying the right hardware from newegg.com
Mac Pro would cost me three time as much. So it's worth giving it a shot.
