First Look - MXL Genesis vs MXL 960

Yes, Daisy/Chessrock/RecordingPro/Whatever WAS "slamming" me, and hell no, I ain't no king!! The original thread had a metal guy asking about how to improve his recordings and I suggested a low cost way to get a heavier guitar sound.
Harvey you really have no right to lump me in with anyone else - I'm not Daisy, DJL, Chessrock.

I talk about what I know and only what I know and I pop in here only occasionally cuz I'm too busy building a new studio and recording for a living.

I've seen some strange amps used and I've used some strange amps to get great and/or unique sounds so personally I think your idea is worth giving whirl.

If you're not Daisy, DJL, or Chessrock, then I DO apologize for lumping you in with them.

Have you ever met him?

I have and I know he doesn't have a bad attitude. If anything, he's quite cheerful and helpful. A very nice person. IMO, he was completely misjudged in that whole debacle.

I've gotten enough positive feedback on that "debacle" to know that it's not a small group of people who feel that Hyatt was way out of line on that stuff.

Sorry Harvey, I didn't mean to perpetuate the whole "Harvey is God" thing. I was just trying to say that you have used and tested alot of gear.:o

Ok, I'm still very new to this board and the recording world and I have only made a few posts here and there. Harvey, I have been reading your threads religiously and have been working my way through your microphone faq. You are a man with too much knowledge to keep to yourself and I respect your ability to put it into words and the effort you gave these people for free. Altruism like that scarcely exists in this world.

The reason I come here over gs is that GS is just too overwhelming and huge. Not beginner friendly. This place has not only been welcoming but informative and easy to search.

To lose you would be to lose your great knowledge and understanding that not everyone here is willing to drop more money or time than they have to express themselves musically. I hope you will reconsider and help this place grow.

Should I put up with the same bullshit from him for another 7 years? Why bother?

I hear you. You've been established in recording for some time; having someone question your judgement after you've proved yourself many times over - especially when it's a faceless person on the net that does not have to take any responsibility for their words - must be incredibly frustrating.

Chessrock was banned for other reasons and the reasons were justified as far as I remember. I believe the rule is that if you're discovered entering and posting under a pseudonym, you're gone again. Dragon had every right to boot him if he discovered it was Chessrock. It had nothing to do with the argument with Harvey, although I'm sure that helped expose him.

Chessrock did kind of go overboard, I will give you that, but he was banned under a similar circumstance to me in the Analog Only section. A couple of real jerks that try to hog the forum gang up on whomever they feel threatens them. They did it to a number of newbies. They actually drove them off of the forum. I have private e-mails to prove it. When they tried the same gangup tactic to me, I called them on it. I asked them to prove their side. They got so furious they must have whined to Dragon. THAT is why I was banned in the first place. One of these guys came over to the Mixing forum and started his shit only to be shut down by a bunch of people who actually knew what they were talking about.

Chessrock is quite abrasive and really never knew when to quit BUT I find that a few posters can turn a whole flock against you when the frenzy starts. It will never end and I now find it is not worth arguing with these kind of people.

Can we stop this pissin' contest and get back to discussing this new microphone !!

I know it's made in China and I do own one of Chances mics an ACM-310, but of the LDC tube types offered by Chance I doubt that the MXL Genesis is one in the same as the LDC's that went down in the group buy.

Just my speculation for what it is worth (which ain't much) !!

I love GS..but it is full of snoms that are pissed because low-end gear can now keep up with their high-end gear!! it is so funny sometimes!!!

Now is the mxl out yet? or when will it be?...Thanks!!

Boy, we seem to have an influx of folks who are obviously on the Behringer payroll.

I own a LOT of cheap gear and even I won't make that claim. You can get a decent sound with some cheap stuff, but that last 20-30% gain in quality of sound is where the money makes the difference. "keep up with their high-end gear"? That's just absurd!

I have a question for nuemes....do you own a MXL Genesis ?? Inquiring minds want to know !!!

No, that was teasing only. I've only seen pics & specs. It's like the AK47 thing at this point, huh? Likely from the same factory, yada, yada, etc, etc...
