Haha. I remember those commercials now. That guy was swinging some meat!

If I remember right your using the CAD 7 piece mic-set? What are you doing eq wise to get that drum sound?

Mike
Not a whole lot. I've got my drums really pretty dialed in now. I scoop some low mids and boost some highs on of the kick and snare. Gate the toms, and put some gentle compression over the whole kit. That's about it.

Haha. This is really good. Funny, and ROCKING! You like taking challenges huh? Ok. Write a Randy Newman style piano ballad. Nahh. Just kidding. Great song though.

Lol. Thanks a lot man. I like Randy Newman, but I'm not that good at the piano. Maybe I'll do a guitar version of "Short People". :D

Guitar short people would be something I would want to hear. Give it a shot.

Another kick-ass jam man....your guitar playing rocks on this! Lyrics are great as well....you play any of your originals live with your band?

Thanks a lot Queepy.

No we don't play any of my songs. While I personally think my stuff is better than anything we come up with as a group, I don't push it on them. My songs wouldn't sound right to me if my band played them. I just play the drums and keep everyone in line. If we suck, don't blame me. I didn't write that shit. :D

What a perv !!! Oh yea, hows that hot grandma doing !!!!

Good stuff Greg. One sentence sums it up for me.

It cockadoodledo's....:D

Great tune. I remember some time i suggested you to give a little high to the kicks you recorded to give it a little click. I think you are doing that now. It sounds really good now. Congrats.

Haha, thanks true.

Yeah I've been trying to get a clean and clear bass/kick seperation. I've been boosting the highs a little and I switched to plastic beaters. Thanks for listening.

Oh, man, how do you get everything to sound so damn good?????:D
Great song and everything sits just where it's supposed to!

Cheers
Joe

Thanks man. I just push buttons and turn knobs till it sounds okay. :D

Thanks dude. I've been cheating with the guitars. I use Guitar Rig II. I'd like to do it the old fashioned way, but I don't have the amps and stuff that I need for the sounds I like, so I use a sim. It's a kick ass program though. You can choose a bunch of different amps, cabs, mics, mic placements, effects, etc. I usually dial in a classic Plexi or JCM800 through a 60's style 4x10 cab, hang a simulated SM57 in front off-axis, and let er rip. I just plug my SG straight into the Firepod, bring up guitar rig, and go to town.

this is actually good news for me, because i primarily record direct with my line6 podxtlive with the sims turned on. it's usually decent, but you've really dialed in a great sound. i almost always use the plexi or jcm800 as well--i'll have to monkey around with it some more.

Check your PM's!

How did my name get mixed up in this?

Cool shit as always, man! :D

I am about to comment without reading the other 34 posts. so....

Love the drum sound...

Have you given any thought to hard panning the harmony leads in the intro? Might be cool...

Overall, I can't say a damn negative thing....

You're too good, fucker! :D

Heaps of hassles with the link but I managed after an half dozen tries now the streamer's taking a month of sundays. I'll try downloading instead, wait, wait - no still ooading - I'll have to WAIT!!!!!! and now, still waiting, soundclick can be sooo painful yet so useful...waiting...it's ACTUALLY downloading...
AHHH - 8 mnutes from 1st click.
There's the skeleton of a Zep riff under the intro - There's the Bonham.
This could be a KISS lyric from Hotter Than Hell.
A REALLY good guitar sound regardless of how you created it.
I'm so glad you worked your way beyond JUST covers. You're a true snotty rocker!
Do you guitar rif the bass as well?
Have you actually played the band any of your original recordings?
Your originals are 100% PARTY rock - the Hives try to be a party but don't get close.
Welld one & nice dirty rock lyrics - Bon Scott'd be proud!

Thanks a lot Rokket....in my pocket! :p

I did mess with the panning of the leads, and I usually like wider panning, but I didn't like it for this song. Thanks for listening bud. :)

Wow nice comparisons. I'm not worthy!

Thanks a whole lot Ray. I guess 20 years of listening to the Ramones every day has forced me into trying to make fun music that doesn't take itself too seriously.

I don't know what you mean by "guitar riff" the bass. Do you mean play power chords on it or something? If so, then no. It's just regular bass picking. The bass and guitar lines pretty much do the exact same thing.

I have played some of my songs for my band, but they don't seem very interested. The lead guitarist and I are pretty much on the same page musically and he likes my stuff, but we both agree that the frontman could never pull it off. He's kind of dumb, and my stuff just doesn't fit his style, and I'm cool with that. I'm totally fine with my band not playing my songs. My stuff is a little too "punk" for the band, and I'd rather not have my songs butchered by some Nikki Sixx wannabe. :D

Fire me an email if you ever have trouble with my Soundclick page and I'll send you a high-quality version. :)

Greg,
typo - I meant guitar rig! In other words what do you do to get that great bass sound?
Soundclick came together in the end & I downloaded the track. I've been thinking about putting all your tracks onto a party CD. It'd be fun.
I'm glad you're not fussed about the band re your music. It'd be awful if it ate at you.
The last band I was in was just a vehicle for the front man - he'd direct musical choices and personnel. He wasn't very good either so I jumped when he sacked someone for their divergent dress sense.
Send me a HQ version any time. I still have to send you Sewer/Night Out in HQ I've just recalled. Man, you really lifted that song!

The bass is through GR too. Direct into the Firepod, and then I dial in a vintage SVT setup. Just like in real life, the older stuff sounds so much better. :D

Yeah I like my band and the music we play, but I'm happy to just sit back and bang the drums. A lot of people tell me to start my own band, but as long as the songs they write don't totally suck, I'm good. I will put the veto on a bad song though. There's quite a few songs that I have permanently banned from our setlist. ;)

Each one of my originals is gonna make it's way to an "official" CD, so you can keep downloading them if you want, but the real deal will be better when it's ready. :D

I'll wait for the original then. I love to hear raucous rock in the highest fi possible.
Thanks for the bass clue.
