Well, we're in the home stretch in the manufacturing process. I just got the box design to approve, and they are making/asking for shipping instructions. I hope everyones shipping info is up to date as I will be setting up the system with the people doing the pack & ship process.

Excellent news! Thanks for the update, Chance!

Chance - OK after the Quake????

Chance - You OK out there after the quake? I know you're pretty close to Chino Hills!

We're fine in the Pasadena area. Definately a shaker/roller, but no gear on the floor like the Sierra Madre and Whittier Narrows and Northridge quakes.

Hope everyone in the Inland Empire is OK......

Chance,
How are things out there for you guys? Out in the SGV that quake was pretty strong and I think you are alot closer to the epicenter.

Bummer,, I missed it. I was driving, got home and everyone was all excited.

I was driving during one of the quakes. At slow speed - a couple of miles per hr - it was the weirdest feeling. Like driving on jello.

do we still have time to update our shipping address? i'm moving in a week

If you're unable to change it let me know and chance can ship yours to me...we could meet up after it arrives to exchange the "goods"

wait, i dont mean to be rude or ignorant here, but when exactly is the estimated ETA of the shipping?

i hear end of august being thrown around, as well as september and even october.. what is the real deal!?!?

thanks :D

I just got notice that SOME of the mics (135 cartons worth) are finished and ready to ship. Some mics need to be individually inspected (ribbon sag) They said that because this is "a first production run" on the mic-pres, they need to test every piece. I might just go ahead and have them ship what is ready now. I say "might" because it would involve extra steps and trips to the port of LA customs. I will call Randy later and see if he has the shipping data on how many and who ordered mics only that are now ready to ship.
Stay tuned

Currently there are probably too many factors still in play to know that. It's all going to depend on:
1-how quickly the manufacturing process is completed
2-how much the Olympics may or may not interfere with any part of the process from manufacturing to shipping
3-how quickly the boats arrive and the gear is moved through customs
4-how quickly the gear gets to the company being used for shipping
5-how quickly the gear can be separated and boxed for individual orders
6-the time it takes for delivery by whatever carrier the shipping company uses.

#1 hasn't happened yet so everything is still in play. And in all of those, #5 is probably what we'll know least about since Chance has said this is something new to the GB paradigm because of the size of the pool of participants on this one. All anyone can do at this point is make a guess and that guess could be off by months depending on the other factors yet to play out.

I don't think anyone has an "exact estimated ETA of the shipping". I'm not even sure which part of the shipping you're asking about (from China to the US? or from the US port of entry to the final purchaser?). You mention August, September, and October - I think the real answer is that all three of those are "the real deal" - depending on which part of the process you are asking about.

Chance told us a month or so ago that he expected the shipment to leave China around the end of August. More recently he seems to be suggesting that that date may improve. So let's assume that the products will leave China somewhere between August 15th and August 31st. The estimate for travel time across the ocean is 30 days, but that, too, may be conservative.

OK, so that suggests that the products may reach the US around 9/15 (which is neither best case nor worst case). Then it will take a few days - maybe a week - for Chance to claim them from customs, pay the duties, and transport them to the logistics vendor who is handling US shipping.

Chance then needs to calculate the appropriate duties, logistics, and shipping costs for each of us and bill us for that amount via Randy's system. Once we've paid it, he can instruct the logistics vendor to ship our product to us individually. It's probably safe to assume that those shipments will start around October 1st.

If the logistics vendor is fast enough, it may be that nearly all of us will receive our mics/pres in October. On the other hand, some may stretch into November. That's pretty good - definitely better than the estimate that I posted here several weeks ago.

Is that what you wanted to know?
