"Hi, I'm in Delaware."
I could really use a bass for my recordings rather than trying to emulate one with my Whammy pedal. I was playing around at GC and got hooked on the Schecters, especially the Stiletto Custom, so if anyone has a bass like that that they are for some reason willing to part with (preferably for not too much, and preferably a 4-string), PM me. Thanks.

eh, nevermind. Just went and bought the one I wanted anyway.

What did ya get? I'm not a bass player primarily, but like you I got tired of "fakin' it." (I did get decent--I've even gigged on bass instead of lead now and again.)

I had a couple Squier P Basses -- a regular and a shorty, but I saw a used Schecter Stilletto Diamond Series (5 string) that I just couldn't pass up. I haven't touched the Squiers since (no surprise there).

Let us know what you got and how you like it!

I actually picked up a OLP Stingray that is pretty nice for 150. It's an copy of the Ernie ball stingray and plays surprisingly well and sounds really nice.

I went with the Schecter Stilleto Custom-4. The exact one I was looking at, actually (with the Natural Satin finish). Not only does it look beautiful, it sounds soooo good. I'm used to guitar where the control knobs never really seem to do much, but on this bass I can get entirely different sounds by playing with them. And having a knob to blend the pickups instead of just selecting one... man. I couldn't be happier. Are there guitars like this, too? I love my Gibson, but if I ever needed another guitar, I might have to look at the Schecters, too.

I thought about whether or not I'd want a 5 string, but it just seemed like too much for me to handle. Isn't the extra string a lower string than the E string? I don't even know what that would be tuned to on a bass...

You know, when I went to GC to buy it, the guy told me they stopped letting people talk them into cutting prices. I think he was just lying to me so that he could keep all his commission (because he still gave me a free case). Has anyone else heard that?

Yeah I love a pretty piece of wood--my Stilletto is the satin flamed top. And the electronics are indeed sweet. Glad you're enjoying it!

As far as GC goes--yes I've heard that they're cutting out the negotiating. There's even been a thread or two on it here.

It is a lower string and it's tuned to a B

Or in my case--a thumb rest. :D

(Still tuned to a B of course, because everyone knows there's no more comfortable thumb rest than one tuned to B)
