Hey all,
I've been recommended by a drummer to use my newly purchased DMP3 pre (arriving Friday...for my Saturday Session!) on the overheads. The music is by Citizen one (www.citizenonemusic.com). Bass (through an Avalon U5-that I'm picking up in an hour!!!), electric guitar, acoustic guitar, drums and vocals. At the very least we will be recording electric guitar, bass and drums live...then overdubbing the acoustic and vocals.
My question: For drums I have Samson C02's for overhead, A Beta52 for the bass drum (or the Sennheiser 421), and a 57 for the snare.
What should I use the DMP3 for: A) the oh's, or B) the kick and snare?
It is folk soul ala Bill Withers, Al Green, Curtis Mayfield stuff. If you check out my last recording for this guy at the website above, I had no preamps for that and I was frustrated as hell with the drum sounds. This time however, I have more time to get sounds and I am thankful as all get up!
I was advised once somewhere here to use it for oh's but I wanted to post this to many and get thoughts from as many as I can. THANKS
Any advice is appreciated.
Much love,
Cuzme
