Awesome guys! thanks alot! I NEED ONE NOOOOOWWW lmao.

i always drum like crazy with my fingers on whatever i can find, imagining kick drum and snare and hi hats going at the same time, and finally i found the perfect instrument for that.

Yeah!!!

Hey,
Your going to hurt your hands alot but its way worthit

Also, look for one with a snare on one side those are way cooler... And you have a lot more variety..\

You may want to look into making one yourself if your a good enough of a carpenter, its not THAT hard... just make the wood a little loose they sound cooler that way...

By the way...
Those things are endlessly amazing...
You can do anything with them
I recently played with David Wilcox and I didn't need to bring a Kit at all...

And you can mic them easy by just putting a mic in the hole, and a condenser mic in the front ( if your that fanatic and you need the snap)

Hope You Read this In time

You played with David Wilcox!?!?!?! Holly crap, i love that guy! I didn't realize there were supa-starz on this board!

mmmmmph...

IMO if you're going to get a cajon then try it before you buy it, as somehow each one has it's own particular flavor. My preference is for home made ones that are unfinished, with at least one really flappy corner on the playing side.

Also, you may want to check into a Doumbek, as if you have talent with fingers -as opposed to beating on things with just hands - then this instrument may be another good choice as it has a lot of specific finger rolls and hits.

BUT for the love of ghod, take some lessons if you get one.

Sounds like a fun drum to own...and make...cool stuff. Thanks for bringing attention to it!!!

David Wilcox the folk singer or David K. Wilcox the blues and boogie guitarist?

They are both very respected musicians, but I am a real big fan of David K. Wilcox the blues and boggie guitarist that used to play with Leon Redbone.

As for "superstars" on this board......... you have no idea who some of the people are on this board. There are megastars that have taken on an assumed name just so they can chat with us about home recording without being hassled.
Since I joined several years ago, two separate members that I had messaged back and forth with revealed themselves to me (one on line, and one at a show). I certainly won't reveal who they are, but be aware, there are some big names that wonder through here.

i've seen the word "cajon" a million times, and knew it was some sort of percussion instrument, but it wasn't until i read this thread that i looked into what exactly they are.

so i've been watching youtube videos for the past half hour in thrall, and i'm absolutely convinced that i MUST have one of these!!!!

Alas, no. Not anyone as mega and important as that.................. but someday, if I'm very very good and eat all of my vegetables (and take my vitamins), I may be divinely blessed with such a meeting.................... ah............I can only hope........

Actually, the above poster is quite well known as a talented percussionist himself... :D

Thanks......

But you and I are in the same boat, just overworked hard working craftsman that work gigs for not enough money and not enough respect....... occasionally have the opportunity to work with well known people that we admire........ do some session work, work RenFairs and just about make enough money to cover our bills..... on a good month.................
...and loving every minute of it. :D
