This is just great. I love covers of eighties stuff like this, and this is a very unexpected and cool take.

I really can't hear any changes that I would make. Maybe a tad more snare. Maybe.

Also, on first listen, I noticed the vocals were a bit pitchy (flat) in places. Then I listened again and decided that the delivery really fits the way this song is done...gives it more of that raunchier, punk sound. So I don't know if it was intentional or not, but it works.

Well done.

I thought it sounded pretty good. I'd turn up the lead guitar solo a tad. It should be more out front. Good job on the drums. I went to a concert a couple nights ago and the drums were so damn loud I couldn't hardly make out the musical instruments. I hate that. I think you've got them just about right. You can hear 'em, but you can also hear everything else.

Wow, that's a Casio all right. Okay that's a cool sounding guitar coming in. Love the drums. I'm using headphones, but they sound perfect!

Bass has just the right amount of presence and not mushy at all.

Hmm...what's wrong with it? I got frikkin' nuttin. I even thought the level on the lead was just right.

What a blast! What does your wife think of it? Hope she likes it...

Thanks. I'm not a very good singer, and I didn't really try to sing this one too well anyway. It's half bad cuz I suck and half bad because I wanted it that way. :D

Thanks. I think I agree about the solo. I'll take another look.

Thanks. Yeah she liked it. She even got a little teary. I'm like "Is it that bad"? :D

Making the wife cry... way to go, man.

The drums are awesome here. I thought for comparison sake, I'd listen to some of your earlier stuff and the drums have definitely changed; much fuller now. Really nice stuff.

Always enjoy listening.

Cheers,

Nice! My 19 month old is jumping up and down. A friend of mine at work secretly let me know he went to a Cure concert last night (not that I think this song was by the Cure) -- weird - it's sort of all coming back. I definitely like your version better than the original -- then and now :D

What vocal mic(s) do you use?

Thanks a lot. I'm still pretty new at all of this and I think my drum methods are constantly improving. Buying a good kit and cymbals helped a lot too. It's been a long learning process but it's coming along.

Thanks a lot. I use an AT2020 LDC.

The key'd intro is very, VERY offputting.
This is an excellent shouty version.
Much better than the original.
Reminds me of Tenpole Tudor.

Haha, thanks. Yeah I'm not a keyboard kind of guy, but I thought it would be a nice way to fake you out and make the rest of the song sound bigger. :D

Greg!

The 80´s were a bad time for lots of kind of music, but this one I specially hate:D:D:D ...

But you a nice version, modifying the terrible original groove:D ,and adding the "Greg L guitars"...good job!

You´re doing some preety good mixes, nice balance again.

Ciro

I love your style, I really do. And I agree, the drums have come a long way. Sounds so much "pro" now. Great work as always.

this rocks. I found the vague timing in the beginning a bit annoying, but other than that, it rocks.

I could also hear a totally kick ass key solo in the middle on the casio, start off with the pure casio sound, then rock it through a zillion effects.

Lol, no you are right, the 80's really did suck.

Agreed...and two examples that comes in mind now, that had some FANTASTIC recordings in the 70´s and started to "suck" exactly at 1980: Elton John and Queen (Nikita, and Hot Space, only to start ....)

Lol. Thanks. I freeformed the intro keys until the palm-muted guitar comes in and then I followed the click.

Lol. I'm not a fan of Elton or Queen, so they always sucked to me. :D
