Yep, somebody--

Seriously, I've listened a bit, but want to listen completely. I'll comment later tonight--just wanted to let you know. I hate the hanging on part, too.

Sounds good to me -- maybe it's just my headphones (the only way I can listen to these things in the evenings around here), but the bass drum seems a little loud, in that it seems to be perforating everything else. Sometimes the vocals (which sound great, btw) get buried in the mix, too.

I think it's a mature thing to cover a power puff girls song -- I've been doing covers of the tinny little tunes that come out my 18 month old daughter's baby toys.

Well thank you guys. About the drums, I won't be able to do any mixing for a while. I have a bad ear infection or something, and can't hear worth a crap. I would love to here your toy covers.

Y'know, maybe the kick was anitchef's headphones--sounds good on my monitors.

This is fun--and very well done. There's a great "surreal" quality to the vox--created by the harmonies and just how smooth they are. Then the caliope (sp?) style synth stuff just completes the feel.

I too think it's cool to be open to inspiration from a rather unlikely source. You've done it justice.

(While I was there, I snooped around and checked out "Demo." I don't know what you were going for--but I hope you got it. You deserved it. :D)

Thank you, although I don't know what SP means. I did get a few VOs from that demo, thanks. Thank you also for the comment on my voice. It took me a while to do it that "smoothly" because I don't have melodyne or anything, so it's all me. lol. I thought it turned out ok, but I am always a bit iffy on tooting my own horn, because I don't think it is right. That is why I come to places like this to hear from you all.

I was just questioning my spelling (the "sp?" is an old notation from a writer to an editor to check the spelling a certain word) on the word "coliape"--which may not have even been the right word to describe the synth sound I was hearing.

But no matter--great job. And the voice thats "all you"--sounds really nice.

If it is in the middle of the chorus you are hearing, then it is a weird organ synth on the left speaker, and on the right a theremin synth.

Yep, that's it. I "caliope'd" when I should've "theremin'd."

OK - yes, it does sound much better on my monitors. I also listened to it with my older daughter on her computer speakers, and it sounded great. She used to watch the show, and it took her a minute, but she did remember the song -- said she really liked your cover.

I do still have a hard time hearing the second line of the chorus, such as "That's when you know that you have to fly-oh" (looked it up :D ) -- maybe boost that track a little? But I don't want to give you the wrong impression -- I aspire to this quality of vocals, and with lots of hard work, I may be in the same ball park in about 15 years :o

I've not heard the original..i admit I've never watched PPG:eek:. But this is certainly well done. Vocals sound retro sorta(a good thing). Well played and mixed.

A big fan of the vocals.
Great pop performance and recording!
No nits about the mix.

Mike

Thanks, I am glad somebody remembered it. Mostly, not only did I just like the song, it was more of less me saying, cartoon network, why did you go a screw yourself up? They really went down hill, and are a shell of what they were. Just feeling nostalgic I suppose. I do that alot. When my ears get better, I will try to mix it better. I would ask if somebody here could give it a go, but I have tried that twice before with no interest at all, so I figure, why bother going through all the crap of rendering, and uploading the stems, so they can just sit there. Thank you all for the comments, and I am glad I am no the only one who liked the song.

After re-reading, I also want to thank the people that said they liked my voice, and recording and so forth. I don't know if it is worng to brag on yourself, but i think it is, so I don't. I like to think of myself as a medioker singer, and player, because I know a lot of people better than I am. I get exited when something I do sounds good, but I never want to be big headed. I don't like performers like that. It always surprises me to hear people complememnt me, and I just wanted to thank all of you for being so nice.
